according to official news from the china academy of launch vehicle technology,on september 4, the long march 8a carrier rocket (referred to as "long march 8a rocket"), a new rocket developed by the rocket academy, successfully completed the launch site rehearsal mission of the joint training arrow at the no. 1 launch site of the hainan commercial space launch center.

this isthe rocket academy conducted rocket assembly and testing in hainan's assembly and testing plant for the first time, marking a further step forward in the layout in hainan region.

this is alsothe rocket academy's active cryogenic rocket uses the first independently developed unified ground test, launch and control equipment, providing valuable reference for subsequent testing and launch missions of active cryogenic rockets.

the no. 1 launch station of the hainan commercial space launch center was built by the special vehicle company of the rocket academy. it is the core key to the launch site's launch capability and an important facility to ensure major national tasks.

the hainan final assembly and testing plant is equipped with two pulsating production lines and three vertical workstations for overall testing. it combines traditional factory testing with partial testing at the launch site, streamlining the launch site process and improving test and launch efficiency.

this joint exercise adopted an improved three-vertical test and launch mode, that is, the rocket body was transferred from the hainan assembly and test plant to the launch area in a vertical state in three modules: the core first stage booster assembly, the core second stage, and the satellite cover assembly, and then the lifting and docking of each module were completed in the launch area.

the joint training officially began in mid-august, the refueling work for the joint training was completed on september 3, and the joint training arrow was lowered from the tower on september 4 and moved back to the hainan final assembly and testing plant from the launch area, and the joint training mission was successfully completed.

during this joint training mission, the coordination and matching of the chang zheng-8a rocket and the hainan commercial space launch site system (including the hainan general assembly and testing plant, the no. 1 launch station of the hainan commercial space launch site, the smart launch site system, the refueling and gas supply system, etc.) were well verified. the coordination and matching of the 5.2-meter fairing and rocket-star joint operation with the launch site also passed the assessment smoothly. the joint training achieved its expected purpose.

the long march 8a rocket is expected to make its maiden flight at the end of the year.
