the theme of this academic conference is "strengthening cooperation and exchanges, and deepening the high-quality development of museums in the yangtze river basin". it is hosted by the qinghai provincial department of culture and tourism, the people's government of haixi mongolian and tibetan autonomous prefecture, qinghai province, and the yangtze river culture promotion association, and undertaken by the qinghai provincial museum and haixi prefecture culture, sports, tourism and radio and television bureau.

"the yangtze river has created a thousand-year cultural context from the bashan mountains and shushui river to the jiangnan water towns. it is a representative symbol of the chinese nation and an iconic symbol of chinese civilization." xiong wei, deputy director of the museum department of the museum and social cultural relics bureau of the state administration of cultural heritage, introduced that a large number of immovable cultural relics are distributed in the yangtze river basin, accounting for about two-fifths of the total number of immovable cultural relics in the country, including nearly 10 world cultural heritage sites. it is also an important gathering area and development highland for museums. there are more than 2,100 museums of various types, including more than 500 national first-, second- and third-level museums, accounting for one-third of the total number of museums in the country and the total number of national grade museums respectively.
