recently, at the 2024 china international big data industry expo, professor zhang xianghong of beijing jiaotong university officially released the first "data industry map (2024)" (hereinafter referred to as the "map") in china. the map was led by beijing jiaotong university and jointly constructed by 11 units including tsinghua university, peking university, china software evaluation center, huawei, and hehe information.

the scale of china's data industry has reached 2 trillion yuan

against the backdrop of the rapid development of the data industry, data-related companies have sprung up like mushrooms after a rain. according to statistics, there are currently more than 190,000 data-related companies in my country, reaching 193,172. among them, 2,197 typical data companies were collected to form a data industry map. among them, data application companies accounted for the highest proportion, reaching 24%, while data resource companies, data technology companies and data service companies accounted for about 20% each, together forming a diversified pattern of my country's data industry.
in addition, the map also reveals the regional distribution of data companies in my country. according to the data, beijing is a gathering place for data companies, with a total of 649 companies, far ahead of other regions. shanghai and guangdong follow closely behind, with 334 and 302 data companies respectively. zhejiang, jiangsu and other provinces also showed strong development momentum, with the number of data companies reaching 191 and 157 respectively. this distribution pattern not only reflects the regional characteristics of my country's data industry, but also provides an important reference for local governments and enterprises to formulate development strategies.
