china news service, hong kong, september 3 (reporter wei huadu) the five-day 43rd hong kong trade development council hong kong watch and clock fair and the 12th international watch fair opened at the hong kong convention and exhibition center on the 3rd. more than 700 merchants from 15 countries and regions participated in the exhibition, displaying a variety of exquisitely crafted watches, accessories and parts. among them, the international watch fair was open to the public for free for the first time, and some exhibitors provided on-site retail.
launching products in collaboration with trendy ips has been a marketing strategy for many watch brands in recent years. at this year's exhibition, the famous movie star stephen chow collaborated with a hong kong brand to launch a tourbillon watch limited to 50 pieces worldwide; another hong kong brand also closely followed the popularity of the movie "kowloon walled city" and launched a watch with the theme of kowloon walled city. the outline of the walled city was carved on the surface using micro-engraving technology and a special diamond knife. the watch uses ar (augmented reality) technology, and you only need to point the phone camera at the surface to shoot, and you can show different scenes and appearances of the walled city on your phone.
the exhibition has guangdong pavilion, taiwan pavilion, and south korea pavilion, and also welcomes new exhibitors from belgium and denmark. some exhibitors hope to expand into other new markets by participating in this exhibition.
it is reported that the exhibition is co-organized by the hong kong trade development council, the hong kong watch manufacturers association limited and the federation of hong kong watch trades and industries limited, with the theme of "fashion appointment", hoping to provide a one-stop purchasing and trading platform for global buyers.
