the reporter saw that the big break activities started immediately after the opening ceremony. multiple groups of students were doing different kinds of sports such as skipping, basketball, football, etc. in different areas of the playground at the same time. the activity space was spacious enough for the children to stretch themselves. the reasonable area division also provided children with a variety of choices. students can do the sports they are interested in on the playground, which helps their personalized growth.
"now the qingtang primary school playground has three basketball courts, a small football field, and a 200-meter track and field stadium. the ground paving and drainage systems have been renovated to provide students with a more professional and safe sports venue." zhang jinghua, principal of qingtang primary school, introduced that the total investment in the playground renovation project is about 700,000 yuan, and all the funds come from special subsidies from the provincial department of education.

it is understood that in order to thoroughly implement the strategic deployment of building a strong country in education and sports and implement the spirit of relevant documents of the central committee and the provincial party committee, the guangdong provincial department of education invested 300 million yuan in 2024 to comprehensively build and renovate the sports venues and facilities of 556 primary and secondary schools in 14 cities in the east, west and north of guangdong. so far, 530 schools have successfully completed the renovation and put into use, benefiting nearly 600,000 students.
relevant officials introduced that this renovation project aims to make up for the shortcomings of sports facilities in rural schools, improve the level of sports work in compulsory education schools, and promote the all-round development of young people. in recent years, guangdong has continued to increase its investment. from 2022 to 2024, a total of more than 465 million yuan of special funds have been invested, and 762 schools have been renovated and upgraded with sports facilities. through scientific planning, strict supervision and efficient execution, brand-new track and field stadiums, basketball courts, and football fields have sprung up in the east, west and north of guangdong, providing children with a safer, more comfortable and professional sports environment.
