this roof is located at the inventec factory in xiyong micro-electronic park (hereinafter referred to as xiyong micro-electronic park) in western (chongqing) science city, and is also the "first stop" for the park to implement rooftop distributed photovoltaic projects.

over the past year, xiyong micro-electronic park has seized the opportunities of new energy development. while cultivating new quality productivity in accordance with local conditions, it has accelerated the construction of a green energy supply system based on distributed photovoltaics, and deeply promoted the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of the park.
xiyong micro-electronic park will build photovoltaic power stations on the idle roofs of office buildings, warehouses, factories and dormitories covering more than 700,000 square meters, and use the electricity for enterprises in the park. after completion, it will become the largest distributed photovoltaic power station in the city, with an estimated installed capacity of nearly 60 megawatts. currently, the first phase of about 310,000 square meters of roofs are being constructed and connected to the grid, and the annual power generation is expected to exceed 20 million kwh.
what is less known is that by turning the roof into a "power station", xiyong micro-electronic park has achieved "killing three birds with one stone".
effectively revitalize idle assets
as an industrial park, xiyong micro-electronic park has many factories and r&d buildings with numerous open and flat roofs. however, these roofs do not serve any other functions except for basic shelter from wind and rain. especially in the hot summer, they can only be exposed to the sun.
after chongqing launched the "three tough tasks and one revitalization" reform, xiyong micro-electronic park, while anchoring the reform goals, is also thinking about how to maximize the role of limited state-owned assets in the reform and create "xiyong characteristics"? and these "idle" roofs are the breakthrough point.
"rooftops are not useless, they are just 'sleeping'." the relevant person in charge of xiyong micro-electronic park said that building distributed photovoltaic power stations on rooftops can not only effectively utilize idle resources, but also help enterprises develop green. in fact, there are cases of using rooftops for photovoltaic power generation in many places, but they are limited to houses with high-quality electricity consumption. there are basically no large-scale photovoltaic power generation projects in industrial parks.
in accordance with this idea, xiyong micro-electronic park communicated with more than 10 photovoltaic power generation companies across the country, and after multiple rounds of consultations with park companies such as inventec, it officially launched the rooftop distributed photovoltaic power station project at the end of 2023.
these roofs are state-owned assets, and are generally leased with regular payments. however, in this project, xiyong microelectronics park changed its inherent mindset and pioneered a rooftop bulk lease model.
simply put, the park transferred the operating rights of the roof to the construction and operation party at one time, which is similar to a "buyout". later, the project investor will invest in the renovation of the roof, construction, operation and maintenance of the photovoltaic power station on its own, while ensuring the safety of the house, and xiyong micro-electronic park will no longer pay any fees.
"at present, the market generally adopts the energy contract management model to attract investors, and the cooperation cycle is long. once the house's electricity consumption is reduced, both parties will face greater risks. we hope to find a good cooperation model that can not only revitalize roofs with poor electricity consumption, but also avoid the risks of the park's houses due to unstable electricity prices and consumption." the person in charge introduced that for enterprises, this model is a one-time investment with long-term benefits. for the park, this model avoids the revenue risks that may exist after the project is put into use.
most importantly, through these photovoltaic power generation, xiyong micro-electronic park has directly revitalized the idle asset of "roof". it is revealed that xiyong micro-electronic park has earned more than 31 million yuan through the wholesale leasing of about 310,000 square meters of roof, and is starting the construction of the second phase project of 240,000 square meters of roof "power station", with a planned income of more than 23 million yuan.
assisting the park's "green development"
against the backdrop of widespread application of new materials and new technologies, green is the underlying color for high-quality development of enterprises, and it is also a new path for traditional industries to "ride the wind and waves" and develop from big to strong.
when xiyong micro-electronic park decided to launch a rooftop photovoltaic power generation project, inventec was the most active company in cooperating. the reason was simple: they needed "green electricity".
"against the backdrop of global calls for attention to environmental protection, customers are increasingly demanding that products use clean energy, and are setting a goal of using 100% green electricity for their products, so our demand for green electricity is also very urgent." a relevant person in charge of inventec said that the international market has put forward increasingly stringent requirements on the carbon footprint of products and the green level of energy sources, which has brought great challenges to export-oriented enterprises, which need to prove their green production capabilities.
coincidentally, the emergence of rooftop photovoltaic power generation projects has brought "green electricity" to inventec, alleviating the company's pressure to a great extent.
it is not just inventec. xiyong microelectronics park is the main base of chongqing's new generation of electronic information manufacturing industry, with a large number of smart terminals and integrated circuit companies, many of which are exported overseas. most of these international customers have "green standards" for the electricity used in their production.
the company's "green content" also injects more green momentum into the park's high-quality development. "this photovoltaic project will provide the park with cleaner and greener energy guarantees," said a relevant person in charge of xiyong micro-electronic park. after the first phase of the project is fully put into use, the annual green power generation will exceed 20 million kwh, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 18,000 tons, contributing "xiyong power" to the "dual carbon" goal.
relieve peak power demand pressure
recently, the temperature in chongqing has been above 40℃, and the city has issued multiple high temperature warnings. high temperatures also mean electricity pressure. at present, the city has called on everyone to save electricity.
after the rooftop photovoltaic power generation project is launched, it can alleviate the electricity consumption pressure in the park to a certain extent, especially during peak hours.
"the amount of photovoltaic power generation is related to the duration of sunlight exposure. under effective sunlight, the average daily power generation is expected to be 50,000 kwh." a relevant person in charge of state grid chongqing integrated energy services co., ltd. said that chongqing has strong sunshine in summer and autumn, which happens to be the time when photovoltaic power generation is the highest. after the project is put into use, the electricity will be used for self-generation in various factories and buildings, which is an important supplement to electricity during peak hours.
take inventec as an example. it is understood that during peak hours, considering the need to use air conditioners and other equipment, the average daily electricity consumption of its factory is about 100,000 kwh, while the average daily power generation of the photovoltaic power generation project on the roof can cover 50% of the power demand of the factory, which shows the supplement of electricity.
in addition, the laying of photovoltaic panels can effectively reduce the thermal radiation of light energy, so that the average temperature of the factory can be reduced by 2 to 3°c, effectively reducing the electricity consumption of air conditioning and improving the working comfort of workers.

he said that the first area of ​​the park's rooftop photovoltaic power generation project has been completed and is applying for grid connection. it is expected to be officially put into use in early september.
