On the evening of August 27, the 2024 China Internet Civilization Conference "Future Night" online interactive guidance event was held at the Qingshuihe Campus Gymnasium of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The event focused on the theme of "Science and Technology + Youth", inviting representatives from all walks of life and well-known Internet figures to express the contemporary and Chinese views on the construction of Internet civilization, and to guide the majority of netizens to transform the power of science and technology into a positive and good force in cyberspace.

The interactive guided activity starts from the historical depth of human civilization, and cleverly connects three chapters: "Born to the Light", "Chasing the Light and Meeting", and "Walking in the Light". Through situational speeches + live stage performances, the stage frame is broken, the traditional model is broken, and the theme and form are perfectly integrated, so that the expression of "technology" has starlight, warmth, and narrative. At the same time, the audience can wander in the digital world that connects the past and the future, feel the road to the vigorous development of Internet civilization illuminated by the light of science and technology, and imagine the hopeful and beautiful digital future of mankind.

In the opening film "AI Future", the audience started a time-space journey from the perspective of "Future Li Bai", traveling from primitive civilization to future cities, and witnessed the changes from ancient Shu civilization to future Chengdu in the video. Afterwards, the event kicked off with the singing of "Upward Light" by young actor Chen Yao, young singer Sha Yiting and students from Zhijiang Primary School in Jialing District, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province.

Glimpse into the "Light of Civilization" that connects time and space

The first chapter, "Born Towards the Light", was officially opened by Hu Jun, the president, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, professor and doctoral supervisor of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He reviewed the origin of the school and told the moving stories of thousands of researchers at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, represented by Professor Wang Zuqi, Academician Liu Shenggang and Professor Li Shaoqian, who were passionate throughout their lives and fulfilled the mission of "obeying the Party's command and serving the country with science and technology".

From the Piruo site to the Sanxingdui site, from the "talking" stones to the "mysterious" bronzes, archaeologists Zheng Zhexuan and Ran Honglin from the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology shared the story, leading the audience to discover the replacement and inheritance of civilizations in different eras; the "Cuiyun Corridor" in Guangyuan, Sichuan is an artificial ancient cypress forest that has undergone eight large-scale plantings from the Qin Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are more than 20,000 ancient cypresses over 100 years old, and nearly 8,000 super-old ancient cypresses with an average age of 1,050 years. The oldest ancient tree has existed since the time when Qin Shihuang unified the six kingdoms, more than 2,200 years ago. Ansen Yao, the author of the popular science video, and Tang Tianyong, director of the Cuiyun Corridor Ancient Cypress Nature Conservation Center in Jiange County, explained how ancient trees can remain as green as before after thousands of years from the perspectives of the rise and fall of the ancient Shu civilization, Sichuan's unique geographical location, the concept of ecological civilization in the protection of ancient cypresses, and modern scientific and technological means.

At the end of the first chapter, Ling Yun, the inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Emei martial arts, led the Emei Women's Kung Fu Troupe to collaborate with the Le Wudai Modern Chinese Style Orchestra to present "Xia Ke Xing", a hearty folk music and martial arts performance, which showed the spirit of chivalry in the new era and the demeanor of scientific and technological workers in pursuing truth and climbing to the top.

In the second chapter "Chasing Light and Encountering", Li Hongbo, deputy chief engineer of the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and Tang Limei, China's first female scientist to dive into the ocean on a "Jiaolong", took the stage first to share the stories behind the "Shenzhou" flying into space and the "Jiaolong" exploring the sea.

“I hope that the wishes I made will blossom along the way and escort the dreams of that time to withstand the wind and sand.” At the end of the second chapter, the student choir of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and the Ginkgo Choir composed of retired faculty and staff performed "Blossom Along the Way" together, singing out the continued struggle and passing on of the torch by generations of Chinese scientific researchers on the road of "chasing light."

Walking in the light:

Meeting technology gives humans more courage to foresee the future

The third chapter "Walking in the Light" shows more of the interweaving of Internet civilization and current life, prompting the audience to think about "Internet civilization" and "the future".

"A country with a vast territory, beautiful scenery, long history and profound culture has so many stories to tell." Dong Yuhui, head of the Yuhui Tongxing brand, gave a keynote speech entitled "Let Positive Energy Generate Large Flows", telling the audience how he, as a "reading enthusiast", created a wonderful connection between online audiences, knowledge and agricultural products through the Internet; Chen Zhi, professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and deputy director of the National Key Laboratory of Communication Anti-Interference, teamed up with five Paris Olympic champions, Deng Yawen, Huang Zhangjiayang, Zou Jingyuan, Xiao Yanning and Xiang Yunxuan, to reveal how a series of technological innovations such as 8K ultra-high-definition broadcasting allowed Chinese audiences to have an immersive viewing experience more than 10,000 kilometers away; Wang Jinkang, a famous science fiction writer, talked about the importance of science fiction works in planting the seeds of scientific dreams among young people from the perspective of the integration of science fiction literature and light and shadow technology; Yang Zhenglin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, told the story of how he helped China's top technology go global and let medical innovations benefit the lives and health of more people.

At the end of the third chapter, Hailai Amu, a singer from the depths of Daliang Mountain, sang his hometown to the world with a song "Windy on the Way Home". The "Future Night" event ended with "Light Chasers". In the special tribute session, six "Light Chasers" representing "China Speed", "China Span", "China Breadth", "China Heat", "China Precision" and "China Temperature" took the stage one by one. Sichuan Radio and Television host Li Dan used a serial narration to introduce the stories behind the six Chinese dimensions.

At the end of the event, Liao Changyong, a baritone singer born in Chengdu, Sichuan, sang the song "The Great Road Leads to Far Away", praising the spirit of scientists who never forget their original aspirations and stick to their beliefs with majestic sounds, and paying tribute to the scientific researchers who have always been striving on the road of developing the country through science and technology.

It is reported that, with the approval of the Central Committee, the 2024 China Internet Civilization Conference will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan from August 28 to 29. The conference is themed "Carrying forward the spirit of the times and building Internet civilization". In addition to the opening ceremony and the main forum, it will also hold innovative sub-forums on Internet civilization cultivation, building a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, protecting minors online, building a strong cultural nation through Internet literature and art, artificial intelligence, and promoting the optimization of the business environment through Internet law enforcement, etc., to comprehensively promote the concept of Internet civilization and showcase the achievements of Internet civilization construction.
