The public security organs have issued a total of 16,000 autonomous driving car test license plates and opened 32,000 kilometers of public test roads, which strongly supported the verification and iterative update of autonomous driving technology.

The public security traffic management department has launched a number of reform measures in batches, focusing on the entire process and all links of people's transportation, such as license plate issuance, road access, and traffic accident handling. It has simplified vehicle registration transactions, optimized the management of urban bus lanes, and promoted online video quick handling of minor traffic accidents. It has issued 250 million electronic driver's licenses, piloted the electronicization of motor vehicle driving licenses in 60 cities including Beijing, and issued electronic driving licenses to more than 22 million car owners.

IT Home noted that the Ministry of Public Security has also actively promoted the revision of the Road Traffic Safety Law, and has made detailed provisions for road testing, road access, traffic violations, and accident handling of autonomous vehicles. At present, the revision of the Road Traffic Safety Law has been included in the first category of projects in the State Council's 2024 legislative plan and the legislative plan of the 14th National People's Congress Standing Committee.
