Hunan Daily·New Hunan Client reported on August 26 (Reporter Deng Zhengke) The film "South South", which has been shortlisted for multiple A-level international film festivals, is scheduled to be released on September 16.
The film was directed by Hunan director Xiao Haiping, and most of the scenes were shot at the World Natural Heritage Site and 5A scenic spot Xinning Langshan. It stars young mainland actor Bai Sha and national first-class actor Cao Cuifen; with assisting role by famous comedian Zhou Weixing, and co-starring young actors Shen Shiyu, Xie Lutong, Luo Yongchang, Zhang Lun, Du Shuai, Ren Jie, Yi Hui, and Cheng Bo.
The film tells the story of the protagonist Lin Shanshan who returns to her hometown in the south from a northern city and transforms the old house where she has lived since childhood into a B&B. Many wonderful and heartwarming stories happen between her and four groups of guests from different regions and ages in the B&B.
The film shows the perfect combination of man and nature from different angles, fully displays the beautiful scenery and food of Hunan, and indirectly shows the interim results of the rural revitalization strategy. While the audience enjoys a healing journey, they can also see a different China from this film.
The film "South South" had its world premiere in the CULINARY ZINEMA competition unit of the 71st San Sebastian International Film Festival, won the "Blue Parrot" Award at the 2nd China-Brazil International Film Festival, and was shortlisted for the 46th Moscow International Film Festival, the 10th Silk Road International Film Festival, the 10th Chongqing Youth Film Festival, the 15th Macau International Film Festival and many other film festivals.
The film was jointly produced by ten companies including Hunan Silent Film Co., Ltd. and Changsha Chuyi Film Co., Ltd., and jointly distributed by Hunan Wanyi Culture Co., Ltd., Hunan Film Distribution and Screening Center Co., Ltd., Hunan Mango Film Development Co., Ltd. and Hunan Chuxiang Film Co., Ltd.
