Live broadcast on August 26th, UEFA officially released statistics, the 2024 European Cup will bring more than 7.4 billion euros in economic effects to Germany.

Nielsen Sports, the world's leading sports data measurement agency, has studied the highly positive economic and social impact of the European Cup on host countries and host cities. According to Nielsen Sports' comprehensive research, the total economic impact of the 2024 European Cup on Germany and its ten host cities reached 7.44 billion euros.

More than 90% of the funds come directly from the expenditure of 2.7 million ticket holders (44% of whom are from overseas), organizers and accreditation staff, as well as the indirect and induced economic effects generated by this. The most important expenses include accommodation, transportation to and within the host city, and food and beverage expenses in and outside the venue. The study also found that almost two-thirds of ticket holders used public transportation in the host city.

The host city and host country generated a total of €571 million in advertising value for global media.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said: “Euro 2024 in Germany was an outstanding tournament and an unforgettable experience for all involved. The football was exceptional, the fans were delighted and, as this report clearly shows, the tournament had a significant economic and social impact on the host countries. It proves that major sporting events are not just a triumph for the football world, but for society as a whole. As our motto reflects – football unites people. We can already look forward with excitement to Euro 2028 in the UK and Ireland and Euro 2032 in Italy and Turkey.”
