Free clinic encounters stubborn diseases, experts perform surgery on site to cure diseases

During the free clinic, the "Hundred People Aid Jilin" team met three patients suffering from illness. The orthopedic surgery team successfully completed joint replacement surgery for them at Wangqing County People's Hospital, solving their long-standing pain and inconvenience in life.

One of the patients had been suffering from right knee pain for 30 years. Another patient, an aunt, had been bedridden for more than 9 months and had severe osteoporosis.

Li Zhichang, chief physician of the Department of Orthopedics at Peking University People's Hospital, performed the operation. He said, "Based on the preoperative evaluation and prediction, although there is a certain degree of difficulty, I am confident that based on my many years of clinical and surgical experience, I strive to be perfect in every detail, so that patients can unload the heavy burden. While reviewing the patients after surgery, I strive to inform the patients and their families in detail about the follow-up rehabilitation matters."

"I would like to pay my highest respects to all the medical experts who are working together in this 'Chinese Medical Iron Army', and thank the Han Hong Foundation for paving this road of hope to health. Let us work hand in hand and move forward together to bring more hope to rural patients in remote areas," said Li Zhichang.

In addition, there are sight-restoring surgery teams from Beijing Tongren Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, Peking University People's Hospital, Peking University Third Hospital, and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, which have brought light to 406 cataract patients in distress in Da'an City, Changling County, Shuangliao City, and Baishan City.

"Comrades-in-arms" take turns to meet again next year

"When it's time to say goodbye, I feel complicated, because we, who are people with similar souls, only have one chance to get together every year. This year, we have done something together that is infinitely close to our inner hearts and original intentions, and it is also a very meaningful experience in everyone's life. Goodbye, comrades-in-arms, I hope to see you again next year, and I hope that our iron army can help more and more people." Ms. Han Hong, the founder of the Han Hong Foundation, gave a heartfelt speech at the summary meeting and thanked these "comrades-in-arms" who had been with her all the way.

On August 10, after the "Han Hong Love 100 People Aid Jilin" large-scale medical aid charity action was launched in Changchun, 10 large-scale free clinics were held in Da'an City, Taobei District, Baicheng City, Tongyu County, Changling County, Shuangliao City, Liuhe County, Jingyu County, Helong City, Wangqing County, and Antu County of Jilin Province. It took 12 days, traveled in 7 cities and prefectures and 10 counties (districts) in Jilin Province, and drove nearly 2,000 kilometers. The members of the love team spread their love in the vast land of Jilin.

Along the way, they surveyed local difficult and complicated diseases, distributed medicines for free, provided follow-up medical assistance for seriously ill patients screened in the free clinic, donated 50 transport ambulances, 30 medical patrol vehicles, donated 20 "Han Hong Love·Township Emergency Rooms", donated 4,321 "Rural Doctor Patrol Packages", donated 2 "Han Hong Love·Recovery Centers", performed 600 cataract phacoemulsification surgeries for free, and provided specialist training for grassroots medical staff (covering ophthalmology, ultrasound, emergency, obstetrics and neonatology), etc. With the support of the public welfare strategic partners Dongpeng Beverage Group, SAIC Group Roewe Brand, Han Hong Love Month Donators and caring people from all walks of life, the total donation value of this action is 21.2 million yuan.

Wang Jialing, chief physician of the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, is an "old comrade-in-arms". She used her vacation to participate in the "100-person aid to Jilin" operation again. "I have been a doctor for nearly 50 years, and I studied abroad for two years. I am very busy in the hospital, and the doctors in our 301 Hospital use their vacation time to do free clinics. I am one of the directors of the Han Hong Foundation and a monthly donor. I have participated in free clinics since 2016 and 2017."

Director Wang Jialing participated in the first half of the free clinic and returned on the 17th. There were 18 doctors from the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army participating in the free clinic, basically covering all departments, and everyone took turns to see patients. "In fact, there is no contradiction between work and free clinic. We will try our best to do this when we have time. If work is too busy, we can find other doctors, but the free clinic team cannot be short of people." Wang Jialing said.

This time, the medical expert volunteer team includes 145 well-known experts from internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, etc. from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Some of them participated in the whole process, while others took turns in the first and second half of the process. They insisted on providing professional and effective medical assistance to remote areas and protecting the health of the elderly, women, and children in rural areas.

Rushing to the white mountains and black waters, they let love live forever

On the road to building a healthy China and helping rural revitalization, Beijing Han Hong Charity Foundation adheres to the mission of "focusing on rural medical assistance and protecting life and health". It targets grassroots medical institutions such as county hospitals and township health centers, and provides supportive system solutions at different levels to help improve their medical and health service capabilities, serve as "health gatekeepers", and enable more grassroots people to "see a doctor, afford medical treatment, and get good treatment."

Go to the Baishan and Heishui regions to protect rural health. As the core of the free clinic, each doctor in the team needs to see an average of 30-40 patients every day.

Yu Hongwei, chief physician of the outpatient department of Beijing You'an Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, wrote in "Notes of a Doctor", "As a doctor, I am responsible for the health and lives of patients. This is my first time to embark on the journey of '100 people to aid Jilin'. We treat every patient with sincerity, because they have a family behind them and they are all indispensable members of the family. Facing the eager eyes of patients, I hope that more people of insight will participate in the medical aid charity of the Han Hong Foundation to benefit more people in need."

Zeng Qiaozhu, an ophthalmology resident at Peking University People's Hospital, said that caring for patients in difficult situations is not the end but the beginning. Rural medical problems need a long time to be solved and need more people's attention. This concept coincides with the significance of celebrities participating in charity. The big names in the medical field are highly skilled and experienced, and the big stars in the art circle have strong appeal. The two promote each other in this charity event.

In this aid operation, the foundation's initiator Han Hong led celebrity volunteers such as Chen Lijun, Li Chun, Yuan Hong, Chen Ming, Mei Ting, Guo Xiaodong, Zhu Yawen, and Zhu Dan to join in succession, setting an example and calling for more warm responses with love. Nearly 30 artists also spoke online, conveying the warmth of kindness and practicing the power of public welfare.

It is understood that when the Han Hong Foundation was established, it has set its sights firmly on primary healthcare and health. At present, it has carried out a large-scale public welfare action of "100-person medical rescue" in 12 provinces (autonomous regions) including Tibet, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Guizhou, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Heilongjiang, and Jilin, benefiting more than 100,000 grassroots people and achieving significant project results. While continuing to explore the path of sparks that set the prairie on fire, we also hope that they will practice their original aspirations and send medical expert volunteers to the people.
