China launches global QR code migration plan application innovation project

In the current era of rapid development of the digital economy, data elements have become a key factor affecting the development of the e-commerce industry. As a global unified commodity coding and identification standard, the application of the GS1 (International Article Numbering Organization) system is of great significance in improving the accuracy, security and circulation efficiency of commodity information.
The industry believes that the launch of the GM2D application innovation project by the China Article Coding Center in conjunction with the industry-leading SaaS service platform is aimed at pushing the standardization level of my country's e-commerce industry to a new level through the in-depth application of the GS1 system.
The relevant person in charge of the China Article Coding Center pointed out that the migration of commodity identification to QR code is becoming an international trend. The European Union is accelerating the promotion of the Digital Product Passport (DPP), and the United States has fully realized the application of QR codes in retail settlement and medical care points through the 2027 Sunrise Plan; GS1 has carried out a pilot application of commodity QR codes in 48 countries and regions accounting for more than 88% of the global GDP. QR code technology has become an important core and key support for global digital trade and social governance. The successful launch of the GM2D project is of milestone significance for promoting the digitalization of commodities in Jiaxing and even the whole country. This is not only an upgrade and iteration at the technical level, but also a profound change in traditional business models, supply chain management and even the entire e-commerce ecosystem.
A relevant person in charge of the Zhejiang Provincial Market Supervision Administration said that the Jushuitan GM2D application project is an important step in the construction of the GM2D Demonstration Zone in Zhejiang Province, and an important practice in the transformation of the GM2D+ market, GM2D+ brand, and GM2D+ ecology. We hope that relevant departments, industry enterprises, scientific research institutions and consumers will actively participate, and jointly explore and practice this global innovation initiative with a more open mind and closer cooperation.
At the launching ceremony, representatives of six companies, led by Jushuitan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., actively responded to the call, read out and signed the Global QR Code Migration Plan (GM2D) Initiative, expressing their commitment to adhere to the GS1 unified coding standard, taking the product QR code application project as a starting point, setting an example, and jointly accelerating the alignment of data standards with international standards, and improving the standardization of product management and the digitalization of the supply chain.
In addition, two experts from the China Article Coding Center and Zhejiang Institute of Quality Science gave special presentations on "GS1 standards empowering the new e-commerce ecosystem" and "high-quality construction of global QR code migration program demonstration zones" respectively.
It is reported that in the next step, the China Article Coding Center and Zhejiang Quality Science Research Institute will continue to strengthen their service capabilities, actively communicate with the Jiaxing Municipal Market Supervision Administration, deepen the Jushuitan application pilot, strengthen the development of key standards for the GS1 global unified coding and identification system, and deeply promote the application of product QR codes in the entire life cycle of products on online platforms. Together with service providers and corporate users, they will build a more standardized, transparent and efficient supply chain ecosystem, promote the interconnection of international digital rules, upgrade the industrial chain and supply chain, and facilitate international trade through the in-depth promotion of GS1 standards and GM2D applications, and drive high-quality economic and social development.
