He is currently undergoing disciplinary review by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission’s Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group at Bank of Communications and an investigation by the Tianjin Supervisory Commission.

Guo Hongwei, born in February 1968, holds a doctorate degree and is an economist.

He has served as director of the General Office of the People's Bank of China, director of the General Office of the former China Banking Regulatory Commission, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of the former China Banking Regulatory Commission, director of the Party Committee Office of the Bank of Communications, and party committee secretary and president of the Tianjin Branch of the Bank of Communications.

In 2017, Guo Hongwei was transferred to the position of vice chairman of Beijing Hualian Department Store Co., Ltd. After 2018, he served as vice chairman and chairman in many investment companies.

On April 17 this year, in accordance with the unified deployment of the Party Central Committee on inspection work, the mobilization meeting for the inspection of the Party Committee of Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. by the 12th Central Inspection Team was held.

The Central Inspection Team worked in the Bank of Communications for about three months. According to the regulations on inspection work, the Central Inspection Team mainly accepts letters, calls and visits that reflect problems with the leadership team of the Bank of Communications Party Committee and its members, the main leaders of the next-level party organizations and key positions, with a focus on reports and reflections on violations of political discipline, organizational discipline, integrity discipline, mass discipline, work discipline and life discipline.
