According to the "Huachi Release" in Qingyang, Gansu, on August 23, Liu Guoliang, Chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, and Li Jun, head coach of the Chinese National Table Tennis Team, led the national table tennis team to Huachi Nanliang to carry out a series of theme party day activities.

Xu Zhenwei, executive vice president of Nanliang Cadre College, explained the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the Nanliang Spirit to all members of the Party Branch of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, the Party Branch of the National Table Tennis Team, and the Party Branch of the Nanliang Town Office. Everyone studied and understood the spirit of the Plenary Session and the Nanliang Spirit in depth, especially the essence and rich connotations of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech.

In front of the Nanliang Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, Liu Guoliang, on behalf of the Chinese Table Tennis Association and all members of the Party Branch of the National Table Tennis Team, presented a wreath and bowed to the revolutionary heroes who founded the Shaanxi-Gansu Border Revolutionary Base and gloriously sacrificed their lives for the Chinese revolution. The team members also reviewed the oath of joining the party, visited the Nanliang Revolutionary Memorial Hall, listened carefully to every red story, reviewed the history of the Shaanxi-Gansu Border Revolution, and further understood the glorious history and great achievements of Liu Zhidan, Xie Zichang, Xi Zhongxun and other Communists in carrying out revolutionary activities in the Shaanxi-Gansu Border area.

During the event, Liu Guoliang, Chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, and Li Jun, head coach of the Chinese National Table Tennis Team, led the national table tennis team to the Lenin School in Huachi County and held a donation activity of "National Ball into Campus". The Young Pioneers of the Lenin School wore red scarves to the Olympic champions of the Chinese National Table Tennis Team. Fan Zhendong, the representative of the Paris Olympic champions, delivered a speech. Liu Guoliang and Li Jun, on behalf of the Chinese National Table Tennis Team, donated 10 table tennis tables, 100 pairs of table tennis rackets, and 1,000 table tennis balls to the Lenin School in Huachi County.

In his speech, Huachi County Mayor Xiao Yuchuan, on behalf of the Huachi County Party Committee and the County Government, expressed high respect for the honors won by the national table tennis team for the motherland and the people, and expressed sincere admiration for their high morale, tenacious style, and superb skills demonstrated in international competitions.

After the donation ceremony, members of the Chinese National Table Tennis Team interacted with fans and students of the Lenin School in Huachi County through table tennis.

Olympic champion Ma Long said that we must vigorously inherit and carry forward the spirit of revolutionary martyrs who were not afraid of hardships and were willing to make sacrifices. I will play a good role in mentoring and sharing my experience with young players to help them grow quickly.

Olympic champion Fan Zhendong said.

Liu Guoliang said that the Chinese Table Tennis Association and the national table tennis team will vigorously inherit the red gene, and under the inspiration of the red spirit, walk the Long March of the new era and continue to write a glorious new chapter in the table tennis career.

This is the first time in five years that Liu Guoliang has led the national table tennis team to Nanliang again.

On May 8, 2019, Liu Guoliang led more than 30 players and coaches including Ma Long, Liu Shiwen, and Xu Xin to the Nanliang Revolutionary Memorial Hall to study the red spirit, and felt the revolutionary spirit of the Communist Party members who were not afraid of sacrifice and hard work.

According to the Huachi County Government website, Huachi is a revolutionary old area with a unique status in the history of our party. In the summer and autumn of 1929, Liu Zhidan came to Nanliang to spread revolutionary ideas to poor peasants. In 1930, he established the revolutionary armed forces - the Nanliang guerrillas. In 1934, Liu Zhidan, Xie Zichang, Xi Zhongxun and other older generation revolutionaries established the first Shaanxi-Gansu Soviet regime in the northwest - the Nanliang Government in Huachi Nanliang, and opened up the Shaanxi-Gansu Border Revolutionary Base with Nanliang as the center, which became the only remaining revolutionary base in the country in the late period of the Second Civil Revolutionary War. It provided a foothold for the Party Central Committee and various Red Army troops during the Long March, and provided a starting point for the Eighth Route Army to go to the anti-Japanese front. It has an important position of "two points and one existence" in the history of the Chinese revolution. The people of the old Huachi area paid a huge price and sacrifice for the Chinese revolution, and formed the "Nanliang Spirit" with "facing the masses, sticking to beliefs, taking the overall situation into consideration, and seeking truth and pioneering" as the main content in the baptism of blood and fire.
