IT Home reported on August 24 that Mark Gurman of Bloomberg published a blog post today (August 24),It was revealed that Apple is internally testing four Mac devices using the M4 chip, which are expected to be released this fall (possibly in October).

Gurman said Apple plans to upgrade the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac product lines this year. According to developer logs, all four machines use the basic M4 chip.

Three of the Macs come with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU; the fourth machine has an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU (a first for the Mac), and all four M4 Macs have either 16GB or 32GB of unified memory.

IT Home Note: The M4 used in the 256GB and 512GB iPad Pro models is equipped with a 9-core CPU and a 10-core GPU; while the M4 chip used in the 1TB and 2TB models is equipped with a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. Some Mac models use the same M4 chip as the 1TB/2TB models.

Gurman did not mention the M4 Pro or M4 Max chips in his revelations, but they are expected to be used in higher-end Mac minis, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, etc. The M4 Pro and M4 Max chips will have more CPU and GPU cores, as well as larger memory capacity.
