According to the Zhejiang Internet Police, a traffic accident occurred on the streets of Ningbo, Zhejiang recently. A white Buick private car scraped a top supercar Koenigsegg, which triggered widespread online discussion. Later, it was circulated online that the Koenigsegg that was hit needed "47 million yuan", "the final damage was 4.06 million yuan, the insurance company paid 3 million yuan, the Buick female owner paid 1.06 million yuan, and the car was shipped back to Sweden for repair."

The police said that the pictures and texts related to "Ningbo luxury cars' sky-high repair costs" were widely circulated on various online platforms, attracting the attention and heated discussions of netizens and disrupting social public order.

After investigation by the public security authorities, it was found that the sky-high repair fees mentioned in the picture and text were rumors. In order to attract attention, Zhu, an insurance practitioner from Anhui Province, posted the false information with pictures on his WeChat Moments, which was then forwarded to major platforms by netizens, causing the rumor to spread and create a bad impact.

In response, Ningbo Haishu Public Security Bureau immediately organized police forces and summoned relevant personnel for questioning. Among them, the person involved, Zhu, confessed to the illegal act of fabricating online rumors. Currently, the man has been given administrative punishment by the public security organs.

The Internet police reminded that in order to effectively purify the network environment and crack down on online rumors in accordance with the law, the Ministry of Public Security has decided to make 2024 a special action year to crack down on and rectify online rumors. During the summer public security crackdown and rectification action, the Ningbo Internet police continued to strengthen the crackdown on online rumors and resolutely cracked down on online rumors. The Internet is not a lawless place. No one may use the Internet to fabricate, disseminate, or spread false information. Once it constitutes a crime, the public security organs will crack down on it in accordance with the law.
