This is currently the largest single kindergarten in the central urban area of Shanghai, covering an area of 20,000 square meters and shaped like a "donut".

Based on the original service target age of 13 months, the Putuo Garden of China Welfare Institute Nursery will gradually extend the service target to 6-month-old infants and toddlers, and carry out integrated early education practice and exploration for 0 to 6-year-olds, providing high-quality early education resources for the northwest region of Shanghai and driving the development of regional preschool education.

Fang Yue, director, special principal and senior teacher of the China Welfare Institute Nursery, said that the Putuo Garden and Early Childhood Education Research Center of the China Welfare Institute Nursery will continue the China Welfare Institute Nursery's consistent concept of running kindergartens. Under the background of Shanghai's comprehensive construction of high-quality kindergartens, guided by scientific research, it will focus on infant nutrition and food education, infant mental health education, integrated early education practice for childcare, building of home-school communities, and cultivation of early scientific literacy for infants and young children, and continue to explore the full and scientific nature of early education.

At the opening ceremony, the Party General Branch of the China Welfare Institute Nursery signed a "Holding the Future" Party Building Cooperation Agreement with the Education Party Committee of Putuo District, the Party Working Committee of Shiquan Road Street, Putuo District, and the Party General Branch of China Overseas Development (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. to form a regional party building linkage. The China Welfare Institute Nursery signed a "Hand in Hand with Fun Creation" Science and Technology Education Co-construction Agreement with the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Exhibition and Education Center to jointly explore the early training path for scientific research and innovation talents.

The China Welfare Institute Nursery was founded in 1950 by Soong Ching Ling, one of the founders of New China, honorary president of the country and founder of the China Welfare Institute. It is a model kindergarten in Shanghai, the first model nursery in Shanghai, the first "Infant and Child Care Service Training Base" in the country, and a practice base school for East China Normal University, Shanghai Normal University and Shanghai Preschool Education Research Association. It has won more than 100 collective honors such as the National Advanced Collective of the Education System, the National Worker Pioneer, and the National May Fourth Red Flag League Branch.
