IT Home reported on August 23 that Zhang Zhuo, general manager of BYD Auto Ocean Network Sales Division, announced this afternoon that the concept car OCEAN-M unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show was officially named "Seal 06 GT". The car is positioned as a pure electric mid-size sedan and is built on the e platform 3.0 Evo.

Zhang Zhuo said that this car integrates many of BYD's world-first technologies and brings outstanding performance in aesthetics, safety, comfort, intelligence, efficiency and other aspects. The car will be officially unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 30. On the official poster posted by Zhang Zhuo, the car is claimed to be "the first GT for young people."

Previously, BYD officially called the car "the industry's first two-box rear-wheel drive pure electric hot hatchback". The car has been declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The length, width and height are 4630/1880/1490 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2820 mm. It will provide 18-inch and 19-inch rims, and optional side skirt chrome trim, front radar, rims, etc.

In terms of power, the new car adopts two power layouts: single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive. The single-motor model provides two drive motors with different powers, with maximum powers of 160 kW and 165 kW respectively. The dual-motor model is equipped with a front AC asynchronous motor and a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, with the power of the two motors being 110 kW and 200 kW respectively.

Earlier this month, after the 2025 BYD Seal and Seal 07 DM-i were launched, Zhang Zhuo said that by 2026, Ocean Network will complete the layout of 14 models and form a full product matrix.

Zhang Zhuo further stated that the "Seal" series is not a single product, but a product family. From Seal 09, Seal 08, Seal 07, Seal 06, and Seal 05, "56789" covers from Class A to Class C, and takes into account EV and DM. "Sea Lion" will be a collection of all SUVs of Ocean Network, and will also form a product matrix of "56789".

The 27th Chengdu International Auto Show will be held at the "China Western International Expo City" in Chengdu, Sichuan Province from August 30 to September 8, 2024. The exhibition will be China's first A-class auto show in the second half of 2024. Domestic A-class auto shows include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing auto shows.
