China Shandong Net·New Perception August 21st Currently, the selection of works for the 17th (China) Shandong Youth Microfilm Competition is being carried out in an orderly manner. Shu Wenting, a young filmmaker whose work "Swallowing Sheep" won the silver medal in the student unit feature film of the competition, has registered for this year's competition again with her newly created microfilm.
"Swallowing Sheep" is a micro-film that starts with reality and focuses on the expression of human nature and quality. The film tells the story of Zhao Youcai's family in Yanghe Village, who accidentally picked up a ewe that escaped after the death of widow Sun, and were involved in a storm of human nature. In this storm, the wise but foolish hold the light in their hands, and the clever but clumsy step on the darkness. This film focuses on the collision and friction of human nature, reminds people of the importance of family traditions, gives people a sense of warning, and makes people reflect deeply. The film won the silver award for feature films in the student unit of the 16th (China) Shandong Youth Micro-Film Competition.
The main creative team members of "Swallow Sheep" Shu Wenting, Zhang Bingbing, Hu Yifan, and Luan Rui are all from Shandong. The filming location of "Swallow Sheep" is Fangyu Village in Xiaoli Town, Jinan, Shandong. The village retains the old site of Shandong ancient village buildings and shows the authentic charm of Shandong ancient village. During the creation, the creative team constantly started from the details. In order to make the movie closer to life, the character dialogues were set in Shandong dialect, the scene layout and clothing matching were more Shandong regional characteristics, and efforts were made to restore the sense of age of the scene, and strive to achieve the coordination and unity of scenery, objects, and people.
"In September 2023, the team received the notification of being selected for the Shandong Youth Microfilm Competition, for which we are very honored. Although the work has won some awards before, as a member of Shandong University of the Arts and a local filmmaker in Shandong, this competition has a more special meaning for us." Shu Wenting said that the final work won the silver medal, which is the recognition of the work by the Shandong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and it is also the greatest encouragement given to young creators by the Shandong Film Association. "It inspires us to create more works based on Shandong's local characteristics and spread local culture."
In Shu Wenting's opinion, the honor has stimulated the team's creative motivation, and being able to participate in the competition has given them a valuable opportunity to accumulate experience and learn and communicate.
"After the award ceremony, our team continued to learn more knowledge, summarize previous experience, and created another micro-film based on local characteristics in Laiwu, Shandong, and actively participated in this year's competition. I hope that the work will be recognized in this year's event, and I look forward to communicating and learning with outstanding creators and industry seniors again." Shu Wenting said.
