App Store vice president to leave, Apple plans to adjust organizational structure

IT Home reported on August 22 that according to Bloomberg, as Apple prepares to reorganize the App Store to cope with regulatory changes, App Store Vice President Matt Fischer will leave the company in October.


Apple plans to split the App Store team into two teams.One responsible for the App Store, and the other responsible for overseeing alternative app distribution channelsApple has allowed iOS apps to be downloaded from alternative app stores and websites in the EU since earlier this year, a change the company had to make to comply with the Digital Markets Act.

To address EU regulatory compliance issues regarding app distribution and alternative payment methods,App Store head Phil Schiller is changing the App Store's tier structure.

According to IT Home, Fischer joined Apple in 2003 to be responsible for iTunes marketing and has been the vice president of App Store since 2010. Today, Fischer said in an email to Apple employees that he had been considering leaving Apple, and this reorganization provided the right time.


With Fischer's departure, Carson Oliver, senior director of App Store, will be in charge of the App Store, while Ann Thai, director of App Store features, will lead the team responsible for alternative app distribution.
