"My baby, where have you been for so many years? Today we finally see you. We missed you so much that our hearts are broken." Recently, Zhang Zhongyuan, a police officer from the Dongshan Police Station of the Public Security Bureau of Huzhu Tu Autonomous County, Haidong City, made a video call with Xiao Li who was far away in Beijing. Li Yongping and his wife and their family could no longer hold back their tears when they saw their son whom they missed day and night on the other end of the video. They burst into tears into their phones in an instant...
In November 2006, 17-year-old Xiao Li (a hearing-impaired person) went missing while working outside. After learning from others that Xiao Li and his friends had been to Lhasa, Tibet and Beijing, his father Li Yongping went to Beijing, Tibet and other places alone to look for him, but to no avail.
On the morning of August 5, 2024, the Dongshan Police Station received a call from the Daxing Branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau stating: "A kind-hearted person brought a disabled male to our station to apply for an ID card. Please help verify the person's information..." Immediately, the station chief Chen Shihua responded quickly, closely cooperated with the Beijing police, and immediately organized police forces to conduct verification work, confirming that the man was Xiao Li, the son of Li Yongping and his wife who had been missing for 18 years.
On August 13, the long-lost relatives finally met. Xiao Li and his family burst into tears and hugged each other tightly. Zhang Zhongyuan, who was standing by, had tears in his eyes: "I have been a police officer for more than 10 years. This is just a small matter for us, but it means a lot to the people. It's good to be home!"
"Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! It's been 18 years. If it weren't for your help, my husband and I don't know when we can see our son whom we miss so much..."
On August 16, Li Yongping and his family sent silk banners with the words "We are grateful for finding people and solving their problems. The people's police are dedicated to the people" and "Their love for the people is as deep as the sea. They are dedicated to their duties and care for the people" to the Huzhu County Public Security Bureau and Dongshan Police Station, expressing their gratitude to the dedicated police officers again!
