The 47th WorldSkills Competition will be held in France soon. In recent days, Yangcheng Evening News reporters visited several WorldSkills China training bases in Guangdong Province to learn about the preparations of Guangdong players.
Walking into Guangzhou Industrial and Trade Technician College, there are multiple training bases for skill competitions. In the World Skills Competition, time is tight and the tasks are heavy - some need to build a set of refrigeration equipment from scratch within 11 hours, and some need to build a network operation center within 5 hours... In order to better "race against time" in the competition, the contestants can only spend time practicing hard off the field, and some contestants train for more than 12 hours a day.
The "Ace" project has trained many world champions
Do you rely on air conditioners to "keep alive" in the summer? More importantly, it depends on the people behind the air conditioners! Walking into the refrigeration and air conditioning project world championship training base, you can see a contestant wearing professional sunglasses at the training station, processing and welding the copper pipes of refrigeration equipment. He is Ruan Kang, the contestant representing Guangdong in the refrigeration and air conditioning project.
It is reported that as Guangdong's "trump card" project, China sent athletes to participate in the refrigeration and air-conditioning project for the first time in the 42nd World Skills Competition in 2013. Up to now, Guangzhou Industry and Trade has trained 4 teachers and students to represent China in this project in 4 World Skills Competitions.
In this competition, the contestants need to complete a system according to the drawings within the specified time, which has three functions: daily air conditioning refrigeration, low-temperature storage refrigeration, and heating. Because it is related to the sealing of the refrigeration system, the size of the copper tube bell mouth cannot have the slightest error.
Ruan Kang skillfully ignites the welding gun and processes the copper pipe on the workbench. After a period of time, he stops the welding gun and observes the changes of the copper pipe. For Ruan Kang, this is just basic skills. He can complete a copper pipe connection in 5 minutes on average.
Ruan Kang said that as early as a month ago, he had entered the "sprint" state, getting up at 7 o'clock every day, entering the base for training at 8 o'clock, and returning to the dormitory after 10 o'clock in the evening, training for at least 12 hours a day.
"Unlike other events, the refrigeration and air conditioning event tests the comprehensive abilities of the contestants and requires them to be 'all-rounders'," said Wu Haibin, who was standing nearby. Wu Haibin is the gold medalist in the refrigeration and air conditioning event of the Second National Skills Competition and is also a candidate for the event. He said that contestants need to play multiple roles such as plumbers, welders, electricians, electronics workers, and fitters in the competition, which is a double test of the contestants' skills and physical fitness.
Attracting contestants from Hong Kong and Macau
At the training base, there were also many contestants from the Hong Kong and Macao teams.
Lam Bing-shing, Hong Kong expert in refrigeration and air conditioning at the 47th WorldSkills Competition and senior air conditioning inspector of the Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, said: "Guangzhou Polytechnic has given us a lot of help. For example, during the cooperation process, we carried out joint training. With the help of Guangdong's experience in participating in the competition, the level of the contestants can be greatly improved."
Zhong Ziyang, a trainee technician II of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of Hong Kong, is a Hong Kong contestant in the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning project of the 47th WorldSkills Competition. He expressed his deep feelings about the joint training: "The equipment here is very complete, and the contestants and coaches are also very good. Through the joint training, I learned a lot of skills and I am more confident in participating in the competition."
In fact, this is not the first time that skilled talents from Guangzhou and Hong Kong have exchanged and cooperated with each other. The cooperation on the development of electromechanical talents between Guangzhou and Hong Kong started in 2018. The two sides have jointly organized 30 training courses in refrigeration and air conditioning, electrical installations, building equipment, automotive technology, etc., and have trained more than 550 skilled talents for Hong Kong.
In the 45th WorldSkills Competition and the 2022 WorldSkills Competition Special Competition, with the help of Guangzhou, Hong Kong won three excellence awards, achieving a historic breakthrough.
"Two transformations" promote the quality of high-skilled talent training
"As one of the earliest colleges and universities in China to come into contact with and participate in the WorldSkills Competition, the transformation of the results of the WorldSkills Competition is crucial to the high-quality training of skilled personnel. Guangzhou Industry and Trade has also explored a set of experience in the transformation of the results of the WorldSkills Competition over the years." said Li Hongqiang, president of Guangzhou Industry and Trade Technician College.
Li Hongqiang introduced that Guangzhou Industry and Trade transformed the World Skills technical standards into the college's skill talent training standards, and transformed the training paths of World Skills contestants into the paths and methods for training skilled talents. Through the "two transformations", it promoted the improvement of the quality of high-skilled talent training in the school.
Guangzhou Industry and Trade is building a professional structure of "intelligent manufacturing and digital services" with the dual-professional group education of "industry + information". It closely follows the development needs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the needs of Guangzhou's "manufacturing city", and is compatible with the high-skilled talents required by Guangdong's strategic industrial clusters.
Good talent training results are also fully reflected in the full employment and high-quality employment of students. In recent years, the employment rate of Guangzhou industry and trade graduates has remained above 99%, and they are favored by well-known companies such as Huawei, GAC Group, and Xiaopeng Motors.
