We must continuously improve the level of nuclear power safety technology and risk prevention capabilities, strengthen safety supervision throughout the entire chain and in all areas, ensure that nuclear power is absolutely safe, and promote the long-term and healthy development of the industry. A reporter from China Energy News learned thatThe five nuclear power projects approved this time include the CNNC Jiangsu Xuwei Phase I project, CGN Guangdong Lufeng Phase I project, Shandong Zhaoyuan Phase I project, Zhejiang Sanmao Phase II project, and State Power Investment Corporation Guangxi Bailong Phase I project, with a total of 11 units. Among the above five projects, the Jiangsu Xuwei Phase I project is the world's first to couple a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor with a pressurized water reactor. It innovatively adopts the "nuclear reactor-steam turbine generator set-heating system" collaborative operation mode. It is a nuclear power plant that mainly provides industrial heating and takes into account electricity supply. It is commonly known as a "cogeneration" power plant in the power industry. According to information released by China National Nuclear Corporation, the project plans to build two Hualong One pressurized water reactor nuclear power generating units and one high temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power generating unit, a total of three units. The project will be equipped with a steam heat exchange station, which will adopt the heat-to-electricity operation mode for the first time. The desalted water will be heated by the main steam of Hualong One to prepare saturated steam, and the main steam of the high temperature gas-cooled reactor will be used to heat the saturated steam for the second time. After completion, it will have both high-quality steam supply and power generation capabilities under the designed operating conditions. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will supply 32.5 million tons of industrial steam annually, with a maximum power generation of more than 11.5 billion kilowatt-hours, which can reduce the use of standard coal by 7.26 million tons and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 19.6 million tons each year. Among the five projects approved this time, three projects were awarded to CNNC. China Energy News reporter learned that Guangdong Lufeng Phase I project will use CAP1000 technology, Shandong Zhaoyuan Phase I and Zhejiang Sanao Phase II will use Hualong One technology. Among them, Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Phase I project is the finale of the "13th Five-Year Plan" nuclear power construction, and the first unit started construction on December 31, 2020. According to information released by CGN, the newly approved Shandong Zhaoyuan Phase I is the group's first nuclear power project in Shandong and its tenth nuclear power base. As of now, CGN has 28 nuclear power units in operation and 16 nuclear power units under construction in China, with a total installed capacity of 51.162 million kilowatts. In addition, the "Approval of the Environmental Impact Report of Units 1 and 2 of Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Plant (Site Selection Stage)" issued by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in June 2023 shows that the Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Plant, located in Jiangshan Town, Fangchenggang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, plans to build two CAP1000 pressurized water reactor nuclear power units and supporting facilities. So far, with the addition of Lufeng Phase I, the total number of domestic AP/CAP series third-generation nuclear power projects approved, started and put into operation has increased by two more, and mass construction is gradually getting better. 2019-2023,The number of nuclear power units approved in my country was 6, 4, 5, 10 and 10 respectively, showing an overall positive, safe and orderly development momentum. This development rhythm has enabled my country to continue to lead the world in the scale of nuclear power approved and under construction. The recently released "Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Accelerating the Comprehensive Green Transformation of Economic and Social Development" lists coastal nuclear power, wind power and photovoltaic power in the northwest, hydropower in the southwest, and offshore wind power as clean energy bases, and explicitly proposes to accelerate the construction of these clean energy bases. The industry believes that coastal nuclear power bases have played a positive role in regional energy transformation and energy security, and the active, safe and orderly development of nuclear power will further promote the green transformation of the economy and society.
