To cultivate a 100 billion-level flower industry, Beijing Fengtai District aims to build a "Splendid Flower City"

On August 19, Fengtai District held a garden city construction conference and released the "Implementation Plan for Garden City Construction in Fengtai District". The district will build a "splendid flower city" with six major construction systems, help build a 100 billion-level flower industry with the "Ten Measures for Flowers", and work with Beijing Forestry University to plan a model area for the construction of the capital's garden city, creating a number of ecological scenes that can be experienced, perceived, and integrated by the citizens.
Improve "green view rate" and "flower perception"
According to the implementation plan for the construction of a garden city in Fengtai District, Fengtai District will focus on the spatial creation of "surfaces, lines, and points" in the construction of a garden city, form six major systems of "brands, areas, corridors, gardens, products, and venues", and improve the quality and color of the entire space. With citizen satisfaction as the ultimate indicator, it will enhance the "green view rate" and "flower perception", and jointly build the "Fengyi Futai·Splendid Flower City" in multiple spaces, levels, and dimensions.

Among them, Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park will be built into a beautiful China demonstration garden, and a Chinese Flower Culture Museum will be built to form a fashionable and charming flower-patterned vitality zone; Yuquanying Street will build a demonstration block integrating flower production, city and garden exhibition, and create a vibrant and fashionable business district; Beijing International Flower Science and Technology Innovation Center will link the surrounding public spaces to create a flower innovation valley of flower trading + flower technology + flower culture; a strip-shaped space-scale riverside cultural camping belt will be formed on both sides of the Yongding River; Fengtai Station will combine the Fengtai Station Urban Green Valley with TOD (transit-oriented development) to build Beijing's first garden station.
Fengtai District will also beautify ten major areas, including the Nanyuan Core Area, Lize Financial Business District, Mingnu Temple New International Trade Area, Zhongguancun Fengtai Park East Area, and Lugouqiao Wanping City Cultural Area, through integrated construction. It will use the South Central Axis Liyue Dual Axis and portal roads as welcoming corridors and linear spaces such as greenways, blueways, and show roads to create hundreds of green corridors, forming an ecological green network throughout the district and realizing a chain of flowers. By transforming and upgrading existing parks and planning new parks, the district will construct hundreds of green spaces. Relying on the implementation of the "Green +" strategy, it will integrate ecological leisure, sports and fitness and other functions into urban green spaces to comprehensively enhance green service capabilities. It will increase people's sense of gain, happiness and security by creating "eight garden scenes" such as garden communities, garden streets, garden public services, garden business districts, garden offices, garden factories, garden stations, and garden villages.

At the conference, Fengtai District also released the "Three-Year Action Plan for High-Quality Development of the Flower Industry" and the "Ten Measures to Promote High-Quality Development of the Flower Industry", constructing an industrial layout of "one belt and two cores", namely the South Fourth Ring Road Flower Industry Development Belt, the Beijing International Flower Science and Technology Innovation Center's scientific and technological core, and the Nansen West Flower District's cultural core, to create a flower industry cluster worth hundreds of billions of yuan.
This is the first time that Fengtai District has systematically launched a guiding document on the development of the flower industry, and launched a support policy to promote the development of the industry with real money. The district will provide a one-time support of up to 500,000 yuan to those who have obtained national and municipal demonstration projects; provide financial support for the establishment of key laboratories and the research and development of new varieties; and provide support of up to 100,000 yuan for the construction of theme parks, cultural activities, geographical indications, and participation in international and domestic competitions... The "Ten Measures for Flowers" take multiple measures to help flower enterprises in the district become better and stronger, create a new highland for the development of the flower industry, and drive the upgrading of the flower industry in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and even North China.
27 landscape architect teams settled in Fengtai
At the conference, Fengtai District also released the "Fengtai District Urban Park Ring Link Greenway Construction Plan", which will build a "one ring, six groups" urban park ring link greenway. This ring link greenway is 121 kilometers long, connecting 37 urban park green spaces such as Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park and Lize City Sports and Leisure Park, and four river systems such as Liangshui River and Macao River. It will also pass through five large urban hot spots, including the Capital Business District, Lize Financial Business District, Zhongguancun Fengtai Park, Beijing West Railway Station, and Fengtai Station. Fengtai District will fully transform the ecological value of the greenway through multi-dimensional interactive models such as corporate co-construction, commercial interaction, and park scene implantation, and activate industrial development, urban vitality, and the self-sustaining function of the greenway.
The construction of a garden city requires high-quality talent and think tank resources. At the conference, Fengtai District and Beijing Forestry University signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement, and will carry out comprehensive cooperation in jointly building a model area for the construction of the capital's garden city. According to the agreement, the two parties will jointly launch the "Global Ecological Governance (Nansen) Conference" to explore the construction of the most cutting-edge international ecological exchange and cooperation platform, and will also jointly host the "Beilin·Nansen" International College Student Garden Design and Construction Competition, establish the "Fengtai District Garden City'Chief Landscape Architect, Responsible Landscape Architect'" working mechanism, and introduce 27 landscape architect teams from Beijing Forestry University to Fengtai to achieve differentiated development of the garden city, enhance the overall image of the city, the quality of life of residents and the attractiveness of the city, and form a group of ecological scenes that can be experienced, perceived and integrated around the citizens.
