Zhu XiZhu Xi (15 September 1130 – 23 April 1200) was a famous Neo-Confucianist, thinker, philosopher, educator and poet in the Song Dynasty. He was a representative of the Fujian School and the master of Confucianism. He was called Zhu Zi.

Zhu Xi is the only one who is not a direct disciple of Confucius but is enshrined in the Confucius Temple. He is listed among the twelve philosophers in the Dacheng Hall. Zhu Xi was a student of Li Dong, the third disciple of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi. He served as the prefect of Nankang, Jiangxi, Zhangzhou, Fujian, and the governor of Zhejiang East. He was upright and capable in his official duties and promoted the construction of academies. He was appointed as the assistant minister and lecturer of Huanzhang Pavilion and gave lectures to Emperor Ningzong of Song.
