On August 19, the 2024 National Radio Direction Finding Championship kicked off at the Haizhou Intelligent Unmanned System Industrial Base in Fuxin City. 400 radio enthusiasts from 16 teams from all over the country gathered in Fuxin to compete in speed and wisdom in the beautiful natural scenery.
The competition is hosted by the Aviation Radio Model Sports Management Center of the State Sports General Administration, the China Radio and Orienteering Association, and the Fuxin Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by the Haizhou District People's Government, the Fuxin Municipal Education Bureau (Sports Bureau), and Liaoning Anjiete Power Technology Co., Ltd. This radio direction finding competition has four events: 3.5MHz short-range direction finding, 3.5MHz standard distance direction finding, 144MHz standard distance direction finding, and 144MHz short-range direction finding. The participating teams will compete fiercely over a period of five days.
Radio direction finding is one of the competitive sports, also known as "radio fox hunting". It is a combination of modern radio communication technology and traditional "treasure hunting" games. Participants must use radio signal machines to quickly find and locate hidden signal sources in a relatively unfamiliar environment, and use walking or running to quickly and accurately find the targets one by one. The winner is the one who finds the specified number of signal sources within the specified time and uses the least time. This project has been included in the competition of the 15th National Games in 2025.
The competition sets the stage, and the economy plays the show. The venues for this competition are set up in natural scenic spots such as Guanshangou, Buddhist Temple, and Huangjiagou in Fuxin. During the competition, a series of activities such as cultural tourism and special product exhibitions will be carried out, which will organically combine the unique resources with high-quality sports events, fully demonstrate Fuxin's good ecological environment, simple local customs and folk customs, and booming characteristic industries, further enhance the popularity and reputation of "honest Fuxin" and "vibrant Haizhou", and promote the general public's new understanding of radio direction finding.
