Live broadcast on August 19th, Manchester City defeated Chelsea 2-0. After the game, Manchester City coach Guardiola was interviewed by the BBC.
About the Competition
Guardiola: "I knew what these guys were capable of, but I really didn't expect it, given it was the first matchday and the lack of training. We didn't win at Stamford Bridge last season, so it's good news to win this time. The bad news is we still have 65, 70 games left. But it's good for confidence to start with a win.
"We tried to prepare for the game, we had two or three days to prepare, but we solved a lot of problems with our commitment. Everyone played to their best potential and that was enough.
"You can't imagine how lucky and privileged I am to have experienced these moments with such an incredible group of players. They're all friends, and their families are with them most of the time. It's just unbelievable for me."
We won without Rodri
Guardiola: "Be careful with the statistics because we will break it. Rodri is very important for us and it is also important to have Kovacic because he is an experienced player and a great character. He is doing well."
