On August 12, iFLYTEK released the iFLYTEK Zhiwen 2.0 version of its intelligent document AI assistant, an upgraded version that can generate PPT with one click.
At the end of May, I attended a lecture at Tsinghua University given by a partner of SoftBank Ventures. At the meeting, topics related to artificial intelligence sparked a heated discussion, and the speaker sarcastically dissed the quality of current AI PPT generation, with the content roughly being: I wanted to be lazy, but I wasn’t smart enough, so I had to do it myself in the end.
July 30,KimiThe function of making PPT has also been launched. At present, AI PPT applications have been released, including Gamma, Tiangong AI, Tencent Docs, WPS, Baidu Library, etc. Social media has also evaluated a number of AI PPTs from several different dimensions, such as content relevance and quality, design beauty and template diversity, product experience and cost-effectiveness.
Big models have successively expanded from areas such as chatbots, image generation, and video generation to the basic aspects of document operations such as PPT.
But I have to say, this volume.
After all, the saying “You work so hard, but in the end you can’t beat the person who writes PPT” has been sung for a long time and has never faded. Whether you are a social animal or a college student, everyone has suffered from PPT for a long time.
The audience for PPT has a much greater demand than AI-generated images and AI-generated videos.
For an excellent PPT, each step of its structure, content, design, and layout requires a lot of time and effort, and its output is often directly linked to the product marketing effect and job presentation and promotion defense.
For this type of PPT, AI generation can basically only play an auxiliary role. The functions with room for growth are concentrated in aspects such as structure building and layout design, so modifiability becomes very important.
Of course, there are also some occasions where PPT provides more of a framework, logic or atmosphere. Combined with the raw pictures above, AI can do a lot.
In the official announcement of the upgrade of iFlytek Zhiwen 2.0, the main focus is on the improvement of three functions:
First, the user enters a one-sentence topic in "Topic Creation", then checks the online search function and simply enters keywords. The big model can then automatically grab the latest information in real time and claims to be able to accurately parse text content of up to 12,000 words.
The second is the AI PPT layout and creation engine, which provides intelligent layout and one-click beautification. In simple terms, it is design and template.
The third is the PPT online editing module, which opens up free editing permissions and allows personalized adjustment of element positions and overall structure.
Kimi's PPT function was recently launched, and its main features are:
1. Upload document/multiple documents and convert to PPT with one click.
2. According to a one-sentence command, collect information and generate the content outline of Power and Point; then generate PPT with one click based on the outline.
The official announcement also scenario-based use of roles such as HR in large companies, marketing, reporting programmers, students, and teachers.
Without further ado, let’s experience it firsthand.
I will use iFlytek, Kimi and Gamma to make a round PPT to see the strengths and overall cost-effectiveness of each company.
Round 1: I am a baker and will be giving a training session on making Italian ciabatta bread. Please help me generate a teaching PPT with pictures and text.
Then I will go fromContent relevance and quality, design aesthetics and template diversity, product experience and cost-effectivenessRating is based on 3 dimensions.
(The following content is the details of the process of Kimi, iFlytek, and Gamma generating ppts.Friends who are anxious can also scroll down to the scoring section to see the overall review)
Kimi
First was Kimi. It took 40 seconds to generate an outline, and then a page popped up asking me to choose a template (you can choose any one, there is an editing page later to change it).
Click - Generate PPT. After 20 seconds of waiting, I got a 13-page PPT preview, which consists of 5 sections: history and culture, production techniques, baking technology, and creative matching.
Then go to edit. You can freely change the outline and template in the left function area, and change the module design in the ppt on the right.
In terms of output, you can generate a puzzle or download it as ppt or pdf.
After 15 seconds, I got a 13-page PPT file, which was compatible with WPS and could be modified freely.
iFLYTEK Smart Text
Then came iFlytek Zhiwen 2.0, and I directly copied the theme content.
After 15 seconds, I got the outline of 7 sections and could choose to regenerate the outline or modify it directly.
Just like Kimi, the next step is to choose a template, but after screening, it can be seen that the number of templates provided by iFlytek is very limited. When I choose the "Fresh" style, there is even "no data to display".
Then the generation started, and after 2 minutes and 45 seconds, I got a 35-page PPT with 8 sections, which expanded on several aspects including historical origins, basic ingredients, dough steps, craft skills, baking techniques, innovation and improvement, interactive Q&A, and training suggestions.
Like Kimi, the template can be changed, the function operation area is more detailed, and there is also an additional function for speech notes.
It is worth mentioning that iFlytek provided me with pictures of bread, more than one, although it obviously did not have a deep understanding of ciabatta.
When I was ready to download, it was time to pay, but luckily I had an unlimited card to use.
Gamma
Finally, there is Gamma, which supports selecting the number of cards and 36 languages, and 10 cards or less are free.
After 5 seconds, my 8-page outline was completed. It can be added to, deleted from, and modified. The function area can adjust the text content and pictures, the text can adjust the audience and tone, the pictures can also be selected from Internet searches and AI-generated pictures, and the style and model can also be selected.
If I continue, it will cost me 40 points (my initial free trial points are 400).
Select Continue and jump to the interface for selecting a theme.
In about 17 seconds, I got 8 PPTs. Some modules were still loading online. In about 30 seconds, I got the complete PPT.
As you can see, the image and text are highly relevant and the understanding is accurate, and the function area on the right also provides a variety of modification tools.
Before exporting, the theme can be switched again and the sharing function can add collaborators.
However, "the gift given by fate has already been secretly marked with a price."
If you want to remove the Gamma watermark, you need to pay.
Scoring
The points are assigned tolerantly, with a total score of 10 for each dimension. If there are no deductions, the score is full and the average score is calculated.
Overall, Gamma wins in the overall scores of the three dimensions. Its only flaw is that some specific commercial users may have to pay for the Gamma logo.
The PPT text content generated by Kimi is concise and stylish, but there is no AI illustration. However, as it is open source and free, it has won the favor of many users.
Although the text content of iFlytek Zhiwen is detailed, it seems to be excessive in combination with its purpose. The AI illustrations are not accurate enough in understanding, and the design and templates pale in comparison with the previous two. The generation speed makes it lose points in terms of user experience.
In general, AI PPT provides a framework and ideas, and adds text and pictures in the gaps between traditional platforms that provide templates such as Canva. If I am in a hurry and have low requirements, using AI tools will undoubtedly make my PPT production more relaxed.
However, Kimi and iFlytek still have a long way to go in terms of product value in order to make users develop a habit of using it and even be willing to pay for it. We only need to look at how many users are willing to pay for Gamma to understand this.
In an interview last year, its co-founder and CEO Grant Lee mentioned that the team used the Van Westendorp pricing model to price Gamma, and based on the "Pareto 80/20 rule", 80% of the value willing to pay corresponds to 20% of the product features, completing the pricing mentioned above.Internet data shows that Gamma’s current user base is 20 million.
Of course, the above summary is also my limitation.
Before Jobs came along, Nokia probably didn't expect the world to turn out like this.
AI PPT may one day go beyond the presentation scene and change its most fundamental things.
Open up another possibility.
