Shanghai, August 17 (China News Service) (Fan Yubin) On the 16th, the 2024 Open-minded Publishing and Media Shanghai Forum was held in Shanghai, hosted by the Central Committee of the China Democratic League and co-organized by the Publishing and Media Committee of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League and the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China Democratic League. The theme of the forum was "Artificial Intelligence and Future Publishing."
Education, culture, publishing and media are the main sectors of the Democratic Progressive Party, which undertakes the unique task of focusing on contacting the publishing and media sectors. As early as the period of the New Democratic Revolution, the founders of the Democratic Progressive Party, represented by Ma Xulun and Wang Shaoguo, devoted themselves to the patriotic democratic movement, founded newspapers and periodicals, published articles, spread the truth, and criticized the ills of the time. They played an important role in creating China's publishing industry, gathered progressive forces for the establishment of the Democratic Progressive Party, and laid the foundation for the characteristics of the sector. After the founding of New China, the publishing industry of the Democratic Progressive Party has continued to grow, and the characteristics and advantages of the sector have continued to increase, and a large number of outstanding representatives of the industry have emerged. The majority of members of the Democratic Progressive Party have carried forward the fine traditions, based on their duties, made contributions, and played an active role in the development of the publishing and media industry and the development of multi-party cooperation.

Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. In recent years, the Central Committee of the China Democratic League has put forward a series of high-quality opinions and suggestions on the digitization of ancient books, the application of cutting-edge technologies in the publishing industry, the construction of new public reading spaces, the innovative development of physical bookstores, the standardization of the book sales price system, and the supervision of short videos, which have been highly valued by relevant parties. The holding of this forum is a major issue facing the publishing and media industry in learning and implementing the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, exploring effective mechanisms for the integration of culture and technology, creating new momentum, and achieving high-quality development. It has important practical significance.
Huang Zhen, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League and Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China Democratic League, said in his speech that Shanghai, as the birthplace of the China Democratic League, is also China's modern publishing center. The Shanghai Democratic League has always been committed to the development of publishing and media. In 2014, the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China Democratic League and the Publishing and Media Committee of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League jointly founded the Shanghai Democratic League Publishing Forum. In 2019, the Shanghai Democratic League Publishing Forum was officially upgraded to the Enlightened Publishing and Media Forum hosted by the Central Committee of the China Democratic League. From 2024, the forum will be settled in Shanghai and renamed the Enlightened Publishing and Media Shanghai Forum, becoming an important platform for the China Democratic League to gather wisdom and strength and make suggestions for the publishing and media industry. "We must continue to deepen our understanding of the laws of cultural construction, refine and optimize the integrated development of publishing and media, enhance the people's sense of gain and happiness with high-quality cultural supply, and gather surging spiritual power to promote China's modernization process."
"This forum is a practical action to actively adapt to the new situation of rapid development of information technology and promote the high-quality development of the publishing and media industry." Liu Kuanren, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League and Chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the China Democratic League, pointed out in his closing speech, "The forum is closely linked to the overall situation, focuses on problems, has in-depth exchanges, and has achieved fruitful results.
