The chef from the kitchen team picked up a sniper and won the national championship.

This is not the plot of a cool novel.

Recently, the 2024 National Public Security Special Police Challenge was held in Hangzhou. Liang Hangyong from Taizhou, Zhejiang, performed brilliantly in the competition, winning the national championship in sniper rifle actual combat shooting and hostage rescue.

What is unexpected is that this 27-year-old guy only joined the special police in 2019 and started to come into contact with firearms.

Before that, he was just a cook in the kitchen team.

Won two championships in a row

He said frankly, "I didn't expect it"

"I didn't expect that I could get first place." When talking about the first day's sniper rifle practical shooting subject, Liang Hangyong's voice was very calm, but still very "Versailles".

According to the arrangement of this subject, two players from each team set out from the assault vehicle, run 80 meters across the complex terrain to the bunker shooting area, and use the bunker's five different heights to shoot at the target at 100 meters first, and then at four targets at 120 meters. Then, they start the hidden target drone by themselves, and shoot at three targets at 150 meters through the square holes in the bunker. After shooting, they run back to the finish line.

In the competition that day, Liang Hangyong hit all targets in 1 minute and 33 seconds, 7 seconds faster than the second place.

7 seconds, this gap is actually not small, but Liang Hangyong still praised his opponent, "The other players are very strong, it's really not easy for me."

The hostage rescue subject was on the second day, which was a team competition. He served as a sniper and hit the 200-meter 10-centimeter target in the first attempt with the shortest time of 25 seconds. Afterwards, he also completed the 280-meter 20-centimeter target and the 15-centimeter bonus target. The three shots saved 20 seconds for the team, helping the team win the national championship in 58 seconds. He also won his second national championship title.

Talking about the secret to winning the two games, Liang Hangyong said that he did not consider anything but just "focused on the game."

Worked as a cook in the army

Also participated in the studio to study sniping technology

Liang Hangyong is from Xinchang. He joined the army in 2014 and served in the Taizhou Detachment of the then Zhejiang Provincial Armed Police Border Defense Corps.

However, he did not receive any professional sniper training during his service in the army. After becoming a non-commissioned officer, he became a cook in the kitchen squad, providing delicious meals for his comrades.

After the border defense was transferred in 2019, he joined the Special Police Detachment of Taizhou Municipal Public Security Bureau and gradually began to come into contact with sniper rifles.

"I started receiving sniper rifle training around 2022." With unremitting efforts, Liang Hangyong quickly grew from a novice in sniping to an excellent sniper.

At the beginning of this year, Liang Hangyong began to emerge in various competitions. In May this year, in the provincial special police selection competition, he won the first place in individual sniping and the third place in the team, laying a solid foundation for the overall team performance of the Taizhou team, helping the team win the fourth place in the overall team and successfully pass the provincial selection, and then participated in the National Public Security Special Police Challenge as a member of the Zhejiang team.

This is also his first time participating in a national competition.

When the reporter contacted him, the competition was almost over. He told the reporter that what he wanted to do most next was to do some research on SWAT sniper technology.

Over the years, he has participated in the construction of the Taizhou Special Police Sniper Studio, carefully designed training plans, coordinated sniper teams from all over the city to carry out joint training, and completed a number of complex simulation training tasks. He also worked with his comrades to explore scientific improvements to related equipment. So far, the studio has obtained a total of 10 utility model patents.
