On the afternoon of August 14, the 23rd China Women's Mathematical Olympiad with the theme of "Wisdom in Southwest China, Mathematics in Orchid Heart" came to an end at the Affiliated Middle School of Southwest University. After two days of fierce competition, a total of 51 contestants won the first prize, 65 contestants won the second prize, 39 contestants won the third prize, and 17 participating students entered the 2024 National Middle School Mathematical Olympiad Winter Camp. Among them, a total of 8 girls from Chongqing participated in the competition and won 4 gold and 4 silver medals.

The competition started on August 11, with a total of 39 teams and 156 contestants from all provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities), the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region and Singapore participating in the competition.
A total of 8 girls from Chongqing participated in the competition, including a Chongqing team of 4 girls and a separate team of 4 girls from the Affiliated Middle School of Southwest University. In the end, Luo Xinyue, Zheng Yanni, Tang Weiyi from the Affiliated Middle School of Southwest University and Pu Yilin from the Eighth Middle School of Chongqing won gold medals, while Tang Fei from the Affiliated Middle School of Southwest University, Tu Jingyuan from Chongqing Nankai Middle School, Yang Yuanyuan from Chongqing Yucai Middle School and Liu Siyuan from Chongqing Foreign Language School won silver medals.

"By participating in this competition, I not only improved my math problem-solving ability, but also learned how to stay calm and focused under pressure." Luo Xinyue said that the process of solving math problems is like putting together a puzzle. When the scattered materials are put together according to a pattern, a beautiful picture will be presented.
Luo Xinyue also shared her own learning methods. She said that mathematics is a subject that requires accumulation and thinking. In her daily studies, she pays great attention to basic mathematical knowledge. At the same time, she also actively participates in various mathematics competitions and activities, and improves her test-taking ability and psychological quality through practical exercises.
"Mathematics is the cornerstone of science and an important force in promoting social progress and development." Ou Jian, Party Secretary of the High School Affiliated to Xida University, expressed the hope that by hosting this competition, students' interest and love for mathematics can be stimulated, their innovative thinking and practical ability can be cultivated, and more outstanding mathematical talents can be trained for the country's future. He said that the school will continue to increase its support for mathematics and provide students with more high-quality competition opportunities and learning resources.
It is reported that the next China Women's Mathematical Olympiad will be held at Suzhou Middle School in Jiangsu Province.
