Wang Tingke resigned after serving for less than a year and a halfChina Insurance GroupParty Committee Secretary.
On the morning of August 17, 2024, entrusted by the leadership of the Central Organization Department, responsible persons from the relevant cadre bureau of the Central Organization Department attended the Party Committee meeting of China Life Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd. and announced the Central Committee’s decision: Comrade Wang Tingke will no longer serve as the Party Secretary of China Life Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd.
On April 21, 2023, Wang Tingke, then deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of China Life Insurance Company, took over as secretary of the Party Committee of China People's Insurance Company (Group) Co., Ltd., replacing Luo Xi who was dismissed in February of that year.
The tenure of the last two chairmen of PICC was not long. Before Wang Tingke, on February 17, 2023, Luo Xi, the party secretary of PICC, who turned 63 at the end of that year, was dismissed. He had been at the helm of PICC for less than two and a half years.
Wang Tingke was born in October 1964. He graduated from the Finance Teacher Training Class of the former Shaanxi Institute of Finance and Economics (now Xi'an Jiaotong University) in 1988 with a bachelor's degree. In 1991 and 1995, he graduated from the former Shaanxi Institute of Finance and Economics with a master's and doctoral degree in monetary banking respectively.
Judging from his work experience, Wang Tingke has a long working experience in both the banking and insurance industries. Before entering the industry, Wang Tingke worked as a teacher at Harbin Higher Finance College in his early years. Later, Wang Tingke joinedChina Everbright BankWang Tingke served as Assistant General Manager of the Development and Research Department, Deputy General Manager of the Retail Business Department, and General Manager of the Development and Research Department. He later served as President of the Taiyuan Branch of Everbright Bank in 2006. In 1999, Wang Tingke wrote an article to study the acquisition of the former China Investment Bank by Everbright Bank. In 2009, he was transferred back to Everbright Group and served as General Manager of the newly established Equity Management Department. The main function of the Equity Management Department of Everbright Group is to strengthen the holding management of the group's subsidiaries and integrate the group's business.
In May 2014, Everbright Group acquired a 51% stake in Gansu Trust Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Gansu State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and later renamed it Everbright Xinglong Trust Co., Ltd. At that time, Wang Tingke also served as president and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Everbright Xinglong Trust.
After working in Everbright Group for more than 10 years, Wang Tingke switched to the insurance industry in 2015 and joinedChina Taiping, served as Deputy General Manager of China Taiping Insurance Group and China Taiping Insurance Holdings Co., Ltd., and concurrently served as Chairman of Taiping Pension Insurance Company since May 2015.
In July 2018, Wang Tingke was transferred to the position of General Manager of China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, a position that had been vacant for two and a half years. Before him, Luo Xi was the General Manager of Sinosure. In January 2016, Luo Xi was transferred to the position of Vice Chairman and General Manager of China Resources Group, and the position of General Manager of Sinosure has been vacant ever since. Interestingly, in September 2018, Luo Xi succeeded Wang Bin as Chairman of China Taiping, and the latter was transferred toChina LifeChairman of the Board.
On April 10, 2020, PICC issued an announcement stating that, according to the decision of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Tingke was appointed as the deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of PICC. In July of that year, the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission approved Wang Tingke's qualifications as the president of PICC.
After taking up the post of Party Secretary of PICC in April last year, Wang Tingke was approved to take up the position of Chairman of the company in October last year. In July of that year, Zhao Peng, then Party Committee Member and Vice President of China Life Insurance (Group) Company and Party Secretary and President of China Life Insurance Company Limited (China Life, 601628.SH; 2628.HK), took up the post of Deputy Party Secretary of PICC and later President.
