Beihai, August 16 (China News Service) (Zhai Liqiang and Huang Shengping) On August 16, the 2024 summer fishing moratorium in the South China Sea ended. Beihai City, Guangxi Province held a series of "Qiaogang Sea Carnival" activities in Qiaogang Town, which attracted many tourists to participate in the interaction. The fresh seafood in the first-fresh auction was swept away by tourists.

During the summer vacation, the event site was crowded with people. It is understood that as an important window for Beihai to showcase marine culture, Tanka culture and intangible cultural heritage, Qiaogang Town has held the opening of the sea event for five consecutive years. The three-day "Qiaogang Opening of the Sea Carnival" series of activities includes a variety of activities such as the opening of the sea ceremony, the first fresh auction, the seafood long table banquet, the cultural market, and the performing arts parade, providing tourists with a cultural and tourism feast of "watching the opening of the sea ceremony, watching thousands of sails competing, tasting seafood delicacies, and listening to saltwater songs".

The custom of opening the sea is a ritual for fishermen to pray for a full catch and safety, and is also a representative item of intangible cultural heritage at the level of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. On the morning of the 16th, the main event of the carnival, the opening sea ceremony, combined traditional fisherman's songs and dances with sea sacrifices and blessings, presenting the solemn and vivid charm of intangible cultural heritage.
