On August 15, a unique open class was held at the Nangang Theater in Nanjing Jiangbei New District. Jiang Tong, an academician of the European Academy of Humanities and Natural Sciences and executive dean of the Institute of Climate and Environmental Governance of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, was giving a public class on "Climate 'Boiling' and Green Response" to young people on the scene.
On that day, the 2024 Jiangsu Province Primary and Secondary School "First Lesson of Ecological Civilization" with the theme of "Looking for How Steel is Made - Building a Green Dream and Talking about a Low-carbon Future" was officially launched. Through novel and unique teaching scenes, beneficial and interesting teaching methods and rich and colorful teaching content, this activity promotes the concept of ecological civilization and green and low-carbon practices to primary and secondary school students, and at the same time showcases Jiangsu's practical exploration results in pursuing "green" and "carbon" comprehensive green transformation.

"Green development is the foundation of Jiangbei New District." This year, in line with the principle of combining education with entertainment and interesting interaction, the "First Lesson of Ecological Civilization" entered the national "green factory" Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. Before the open class, the students, led by staff and teachers, visited the "Nangang Smart Center" and "Medium and Thick Plate Coil Factory" to explore how steel is made.
In the open class, Jiang Tong, academician of the European Academy of Humanities and Sciences and executive director of the Institute of Climate and Environmental Governance of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, gave lectures on the close relationship between low-carbon living and production and climate change. From a scientific perspective, he narrowed the direct and realistic relationship between green and low-carbon, ecological environment protection and everyone, and brought a wonderful sharing of "Climate 'Boiling' and Green Response" to primary and secondary school students across the province.
