IT Home reported on August 15 that according to a report by The Korea Times on August 14, Samsung Display CEO Choi Joo-sun revealed on the same day that he will expand the lineup of OLED panels for IT equipment by strengthening cooperation with global technology giants such as Intel and Qualcomm.
Choi Joo-sun told reporters during the Korea Display Expo in southern Seoul, South Korea:We will work with various system partners such as Intel and Qualcomm, expanding to IT OLED, thereby continuing to enhance the differentiation of mobile OLED. We are in talks with many customers, and OLED panels will create synergy with edge AI."
Cui Zhoushan emphasized,Production scale, technology and cooperation with customersIt is a key factor in enhancing the competitiveness of IT OLED.
Samsung Display is a major supplier of mobile OLED panels, which are used in Samsung Electronics' Galaxy smartphones and Apple Inc's iPhones. For the upcoming iPhone 16 series, Samsung Display is expected to supply Apple with four different types of OLED panels.
To meet the growing demand, Samsung Display has been expanding its production capacity, investing 4.1 trillion won (IT Home Note: currently about 21.57 billion yuan) to build a new 8.6-generation OLED production line by 2026, and building a production line capable of producing 10 million laptop panels per year. Choi Joo-sun responded:IT OLED business is just getting started, and our large-scale 8.6-generation production line is about to start production。”
