Beijing Youth Daily reporter learned that on August 14, the "Youth and the Central Axis" 3510 Beijing Youth Green Travel Promotion and Practice Activity was held at the Temple of Heaven Park, an important cultural heritage site of the Beijing Central Axis. The activity actively advocated green travel and appreciated the culture of the Central Axis through the leadership of young people, mobilizing the whole society to jointly promote the construction of green Beijing and the construction of Beijing as a national cultural center. The activity was organized by the Beijing Youth Service Center, the Dongcheng District Youth League Committee, the Dongcheng District Health Commission, the Temple of Heaven Park and other units under the guidance of the Beijing Youth League Committee, the Capital Civilization Office, the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission, and the Beijing Municipal Park Management Center.

During the event, the "Central Axis Youth Talk" Beijing Central Axis Youth Guide Volunteer Service Team was officially established. Beijing Youth Daily reporters learned that the volunteer service team is based on the talent and professional advantages of the young guides of the Beijing Park Management Center, the advantages of the Beijing Youth Service Center and the Beijing Hiking Association in organizing municipal activities and positions. It is jointly initiated by three units to encourage young guides to go out of the central axis and let the story of the central axis enter the community, school, enterprise, village, and thousands of households, further enhance the capital's cultural soft power and influence, and make telling the story of the central axis and inheriting the culture of the central axis a bright business card for young guides in the capital. The first batch of volunteer service team members consists of 10 young guides of the central axis. In the future, more young guides will be mobilized to participate, jointly tell the story of the central axis, and contribute youthful strength to help the national cultural center.

At the event, three volunteer tour guides from the Temple of Heaven Park, Zhongshan Park and Jingshan Park told stories such as "Youth's Mission on the Central Axis", "The Colorful 'Altar of the State'", and "Jingshan's New Youth Inherit and Write a New Chapter", allowing everyone to once again appreciate the rich historical and cultural heritage and little-known legendary stories on the 7.8-kilometer-long Beijing Central Axis.

Then, the walking activity officially began. The route of this activity was the "Auspicious Elephant Picture" in the Temple of Heaven Park, which means good luck in Chinese traditional culture. This route was proposed by the Temple of Heaven Fun Run Group in 2016. The route is 5.2 kilometers long and has been clocked in by more than 10,000 people. It is a practical combination of the innovative and creative spirit of young people with the historical relics of the central axis, traditional Chinese culture, sports and fitness, and green travel.

After the event started, everyone started from Xitianmen, passed through the Hundred Flowers Garden, the Rose Garden, the Qinian Gate, the Seven-Star Stone, the East Tianmen, the North Tianmen, and then returned to Xitianmen, outlining patterns such as "elephant legs", "elephant trunk", "elephant ears", "elephant back" and "elephant tail" with their footsteps. The walking trajectory was presented as a complete and clear "auspicious elephant" pattern through mobile phone software.

This event is not only a green travel experience for the capital's youth representatives, but also a spiritual baptism and cultural inheritance. The successful holding of the event has received widespread attention and positive responses from all walks of life. The Beijing Youth Service Center stated that it will continue to carry out more green travel publicity activities with diverse forms and rich content to contribute youthful strength to Beijing's green development.

It is understood that the "3510 Action" was first initiated by the Beijing Youth League Committee in 2010 to ease the traffic pressure in the capital and advocate the green travel concept of 3 kilometers of walking, 5 kilometers of cycling, 10 kilometers of bus and subway, and long-distance green driving.
