Hangzhou News Network: Stimulate the innovation consciousness of talents, promote the transformation of innovative achievements, and precisely assist regional industrial upgrading. The preliminary round of the 8th "Red Boat Cup" Jiaxing Global Entrepreneurship Competition, hosted by the Office of the Talent Work Leading Group of the Jiaxing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Jiaxing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, kicked off on August 13. This preliminary round innovatively explores the "local + industry" competition model. It is divided into six fields and hosted by the districts, counties and cities under Jiaxing. It cooperates with many key cities and regions and innovation and entrepreneurship platforms around the world to tap a number of high-quality projects and talents, accurately promote the deep integration of innovation resources of districts, counties and cities under Jiaxing and many cities across the country, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between dual-innovation cities.
Facing the world, this six-field competition has collected a total of 524 participating projects with the help of high-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, research institutes, incubation carriers, fund companies, venture capital institutions, well-known companies and well-known universities at home and abroad. After the preliminary qualification review and technical review, a total of 120 projects entered the preliminary stage.
The offline roadshow of the first stop of the preliminary competition, "Life and Health Field Competition", hosted by Haining City, Jiaxing, and co-organized by Zhejiang University Science Park and its affiliated Juanhu Qizhen Incubator, was launched in Hangzhou Zhejiang University Science Park. From "City of Paradise" to "Hot Land of Double Innovation", the strong "magnetic field" displayed by Hangzhou, a key city in the Yangtze River Delta, in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation is also deeply integrated with Jiaxing. The "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Health Industry in Zhejiang Province" mentioned that "Life and Health Science and Technology Innovation Highland is one of the three major science and technology innovation highlands that Zhejiang Province is striving to build". In 2021, Haining clearly proposed for the first time to build a 10 billion-level life and health industry. In just three years, the two major fields of high-end medical devices and biomaterials have blossomed in Haining. In 2023, Haining's life and health industry has attracted and cultivated 16 enterprises above the designated size, achieving an output value of 3.199 billion yuan above the designated size. Old leather, new industry, Haining's life and health industry cluster is rising, driving Haining's industry to accumulate power and upgrade under the development trend of bringing new missions to the development of the health industry in a new stage and new journey.
At the roadshow of the life and health field competition, 20 shortlisted projects competed on the same stage, showing high technological content and innovation capabilities. The project application team includes national talents, university doctoral supervisors and professors, and overseas talents. More than 85% of the projects are led by doctors; the project has broad prospects for industrialization, including both companies planning to go public and current hot topics such as stem cells, surgical robots, high-end medical devices, medical chip tumor screening, and AI medical platforms. After fierce competition, eight outstanding projects such as "Inter-subspecific Hybrid Rice Design Breeding and Industrialization" stood out based on the dimensions of high technical content, good industrialization foundation, great development potential, and strong intention to settle down. The top four high-quality projects will compete for the final crown in Jiaxing in September with five other industrial fields.
It is reported that the "Red Boat Cup" is one of Jiaxing's most iconic talent events. It has been held for 7 consecutive sessions, attracting 7,039 talents from more than 40 countries around the world to participate, and 357 winning projects have been decided, of which 146 have been transformed in Jiaxing, becoming one of the important sources of "Star Shining Nanhu" leading talent entrepreneurial team projects. The winning projects that settle in Jiaxing to start a business will be included in the management of Jiaxing's entrepreneurial leading talent team, and will be given 2 million to 10 million yuan in entrepreneurial support and 600,000 yuan in housing subsidies. Jiaxing continues to be based on the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, with its scientific and technological innovation vitality, affordable policies, high-quality services and business environment, it has cultivated 170 talent enterprises to be regulated, 28 talent enterprises have been rated as national-level specialized and new "little giant" enterprises, and 9 talent enterprises have been listed.
