As an important foundation supporting the development of digital industries, the importance of cloud computing infrastructure construction is becoming increasingly prominent.
On August 14, Tencent released its second quarter 2024 financial report showing that behind the double-digit growth rate of enterprise service business revenue, Tencent's R&D expenditure reached 17.277 billion yuan in the quarter, and its R&D investment has exceeded 302.6 billion yuan in more than six years since 2018.
As of the end of 2023, Tencent has published more than 75,000 patent applications in major countries and regions around the world, with nearly 100 products entering the software and hardware map of the Working Committee. In addition, it has obtained nearly 1,400 mutual recognition certificates, making it one of the most important manufacturers in the domestic ecological chain.
In recent years, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and big data have developed rapidly. In particular, the application of software systems such as operating systems, domestic databases, and proprietary clouds in key infrastructure fields such as government affairs, finance, transportation, and education has brought new market opportunities for cloud computing vendors.
Tencent's Q2 financial report shows that the independently developed integrated innovation products are accelerating the implementation in the industry. At present, Tencent Cloud's full-stack domestic software system has accumulated rich integrated innovation practices in the financial, transportation, government affairs, medical, energy, media and other industries.
For example, in the government affairs industry, Tencent has joined hands with the Guangdong Provincial Government to build the country's largest provincial integrated innovation cloud. Guided by the construction of digital government, based on cloud computing, localization, trusted security and other technologies, it has built a full-stack cloud platform that is fully compatible with domestic systems. It can stably provide services to 68 provincial units and more than 1,000 business systems.
In the energy industry, Tencent Cloud works closely with the State Grid Corporation of China, using proprietary cloud TCE, database TDSQL and other products to help the State Grid Corporation of China promote the construction of a cloud-edge integrated intelligent dispatching and operation platform, improve the level of digital application in various dispatching business areas, and support the two core businesses of smart grid operation and spot market operation.
Tencent's financial report stated that it has currently built a full-stack domestic software system including database TDSQL, operating system TencentOS, proprietary cloud TCE, big data TBDS, etc., which can fully adapt to the mainstream domestic software and hardware ecosystem and safeguard the company's localization process.
