Recently, Cha Baidao released an announcement stating that it expects its adjusted net profit in the first half of 2024 to be approximately 380 million to 410 million yuan, a decrease of no more than 36.45% from the adjusted net profit in the first half of 2023. The announcement showed that due to the increase in marketing expenses and increased support for franchisees by Cha Baidao in the first half of 2024, profits fluctuated during the reporting period.
Some analysts pointed out that Cha Baidao's proactive increase in investment can help it cope with competition more effectively and maintain its own advantages. Currently, Cha Baidao has sufficient capital reserves and its scale is expanding steadily.
In April this year, Cha Baidao was listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with a listing price of HK$17.5 per share and a total fundraising amount of nearly HK$2.6 billion. At that time, it became the largest IPO of Hong Kong stocks in 2024. As of the close of August 13, Cha Baidao's share price had fallen to HK$6.34, with a market value of HK$9.368 billion.
In recent years, my country's new tea beverage companies have grown rapidly and the market size has continued to expand. In 2022, the total consumption of various types of milk tea in my country will officially exceed the 10 billion mark, and the market size will exceed 160 billion yuan. Tianyancha data shows that there are currently more than 325,000 new tea beverage-related companies.
However, in the stock era where the leading companies and newcomers are running side by side, the industry's growth has actually begun to slow down. The "2023 New Tea Drink Research Report" shows that the new tea drink market size is expected to reach 149.8 billion yuan in 2023, with a growth rate of 44.3%, but in 2024 and 2025, the growth rate may drop to 19.7% and 12.4% respectively.
