On August 13, some netizens reported that the cableway at the West Peak of Huashan Mountain in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, had a malfunction, leaving people stranded. On August 14, the staff of the West Peak cableway told reporters that the equipment was temporarily suspended due to a power outage, and the tourists were transported to the foot of the mountain after the backup power supply was activated. The staff of the Huashan Scenic Area Management Committee said that the tickets of the stranded tourists would be refunded.

Many tourists reported on social media platforms that the cable car to the West Peak of Mount Huashan was suspended for a period of time on August 13, and a large number of tourists were stranded, so that some tourists had to walk back from the West Peak of Mount Huashan to the North Peak and then go down the mountain.

On August 14, the reporter consulted the Xifeng Cableway as a tourist. The staff said that the cableway stopped operating temporarily due to a power outage. The backup power supply was started after the power outage, but the switch takes a certain amount of time, and debugging is required after the switch, which caused the tourists to wait for a long time. In the end, all the tourists went down the mountain safely.

Huashan Scenic Area Management Committee staff told reporters that the cableway was indeed suspended on the 13th, and the details of the suspension are currently under investigation. In addition, the scenic area has registered some stranded tourists and will refund their tickets after the information is verified. The refund includes the cableway ticket and the scenic area ticket. If there are unregistered stranded tourists, they can also call the scenic area to report it.
