On August 13, the reporter learned from the Henan Ball Sports Center that at the 2024 National U Series Badminton Competition U10-U11 Finals held in Yichang, Hubei recently, the young players of the Henan Badminton Team performed well. The women’s singles and women’s doubles in the U11 age group both entered the semi-finals, fully demonstrating the strength and style of Henan’s badminton reserve talents.

The National U Series Badminton Competition is hosted by the Chinese Badminton Association. It is the top professional youth competition in the country and has become the main battlefield for discovering and cultivating outstanding reserve talents in badminton competitive sports.

The competition is divided into two age groups, 10 and 11 years old, with six events, namely men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, men's team and women's team. A total of 329 badminton players from 17 teams from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Henan and other provinces and cities participated in the competition. The Henan Provincial Badminton Team selected 22 players to participate in this competition, including 12 players in the U10 group and 10 players in the U11 group. Most of these players participated in the national competition for the first time.

In the competition, the young badminton players from Henan Province showed strong will and courage in spite of the strong opponents. After fierce competition, Yang Fuer won the fourth place in the U11 women's singles. She also partnered with Li Jiawen to win the fourth place in the women's doubles of the same group. Yang Fuer and Li Jiawen also won the "Sports Ethics and Style Award" of this competition.

In addition, Henan Province badminton also won the sixth place in the U11 women's team and the eighth place in the U10 women's team. After the game, the young badminton players of Henan Province said that they had the opportunity to compete and communicate with masters from all over the country, and realized the gap between themselves and masters of the same age group. It was very rewarding, and they will work hard to train and strive for good results in the future!

In 2019, Henan Provincial Badminton Team was re-established with the help of the "provincial team enterprise-run" model. At present, the team has hired badminton world champion, Olympic runner-up, and former Malaysian national team head coach Ye Jinfu as head coach. The coaching team includes former national youth team athlete and former Wuhan City badminton team coach Li Mingyang, former Malaysian national youth team member Ye Yi, who was once ranked in the top 100 in the world women's singles ranking, and former Hebei team athlete Li Yufei. At the same time, the team is also equipped with professional teams such as physical coaches and rehabilitation therapists.

Over the past five years, with the support and care of the Provincial Sports Bureau and all sectors of society, and under the operation of Henan Infinite Sports Development Co., Ltd., the Henan Provincial Badminton Team has made breakthrough progress and long-term development. In 2023, the Henan Provincial Badminton Team ranked among the top 16 men's teams in the National Youth Badminton Championships, won the bronze medal in the men's doubles and the men's team in the National Badminton U Series, and won the fifth place in the women's doubles and the fifth place in the women's team. It also sent two athletes, Huang Yuanchao and Jin Zelin, to the national youth team training camp. This time, the Henan Provincial Badminton Team achieved good results in the National U Series Badminton Competition Low-Age Finals, further demonstrating the fruitful results achieved by the widespread development of badminton in our province and the gradual improvement of the echelon construction of our province's badminton professional team.
