On August 14, Beijing time, the Premier League Manchester United club officially announced that it had signed Bayern Munich's Dutch central defender De Ligt. The two parties signed a contract until June 2029, with an option for a one-year extension. De Ligt will wear Manchester United's No. 4 jersey.

According to previous media reports, De Ligt's transfer fee is 45 million euros fixed + 5 million euros floating, and the total price can reach 50 million euros, but Manchester United will pay this fee in three installments.

De Ligt, 25, has won three league titles with Ajax, Juventus and Bayern.

The former Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy winner has made 324 appearances for his club and 45 caps for his country.

De Ligt said: "When I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I was excited about the opportunity to take on a new challenge at such a historic club. In the subsequent conversations, I was very impressed by the vision presented by the top management here and the role they played for me in it.

"Ten Hag shaped the early stages of my career so he knows how to get the best out of me and I can't wait to work with him again. I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level and I am determined to continue that record at this special club."

Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth said: "De Ligt is an outstanding defender and proven winner who will add quality, experience and leadership to our existing first-team group. He has already achieved considerable success in his career and we are confident that his best years are yet to come and we want to help him succeed at Manchester United."
