On the afternoon of August 11, the 2024 Jiading District Amateur League "Waigang Cup" Radio Gymnastics Competition, the district-level selection for the 4th Shanghai Citizens Games "Quanjialai Competition", was successfully held. A total of 443 athletes from 33 teams competed fiercely, bringing a sports feast of both strength and beauty.
As the music sounded, the competition of the 12 teams of the disabled group began first. On the field, the athletes performed in a standardized and uniform manner, interpreting every detail of the radio gymnastics to the fullest. Their congenital physical deficiencies could not conceal their good physical fitness and their will to pursue excellence. The audience was moved by their wonderful performance, and burst into warm applause and cheers from time to time. "We did it. The team members have been running-in and practicing over and over again for the past two months to have the tacit understanding on the field today. The team leader and instructor gave us great confidence and help. I believe we will do better next time." After the game, Xue Ying, a member of the disabled team of Waigang Town, expressed her gratitude and joy to the team leader and instructor in sign language.
The overall performance of the open group athletes has also improved from "quantity" to "quality" compared with previous years. It is reported that this radio gymnastics competition strives to align with the radio gymnastics competition of the 15th National Games to be held in 2025, and adjustments will be made in competition groups and competition methods, and the original individual group competition will be cancelled. On the basis of popularization and participation by the whole people, "quality and quantity" will be maintained, and "high-end" group competitions will be carried out.
After fierce competition, Jiangqiao Town and Nanxiang Town won the first prize in the disabled group; the "Huazhiyi" teachers and staff radio gymnastics team, Jiading Industrial Zone Blue Oriole Fitness Team, and Waigang Town Elite Team won the first prize in the open group.
It is worth mentioning that this competition is held during the "National Fitness Day and Sports Promotion Week". The competition site is not only a display of radio gymnastics, but also integrates the national fitness promotion concept, Jiading District model creation slogans and other national fitness activity themes to deeply practice national fitness and the Olympic Games, and help Jiading District to create a national model city (district) for national sports and fitness.
