When the Bay Area meets Sichuan and Chongqing, how can enterprises in the two regions achieve high-quality development? On August 13, at the "2024 New Consumption Power Ceremony" of Nandu Bay Finance, the guests shared their insights into the current new consumption trends, the AI industry, and the consumption characteristics of Sichuan and Chongqing.
What are the new trends in consumption after the epidemic?
After the epidemic is over, what are the new consumption trends and hot spots in various industries?
During the roundtable discussion, OPPO AI expert Ren Pei said that after the epidemic, the entire mobile phone industry is recovering and the scale of mobile phones has begun to grow steadily. OPPO has determined a new development direction - AI mobile phones. Ren Pei said that AI is a major development trend in the current technology and mobile phone industries. OPPO has changed from rolling up costs and human efficiency to rolling up new AI technologies and new experiences.
Guo Xueqing, vice president of XGIMI Technology, said that in the past two years, the polarization of consumption has become more obvious. Consumers who pursue quality-price ratio are more concerned about quality, price and function, while high-end users are more concerned about the innovation, design aesthetics and emotional value of the entire product. In addition, domestic consumers now prefer to go out rather than stay at home.
Xu Xiaodong, Party Secretary of Liby and Vice President of Liby Technology Group, said that after the epidemic, the consumption trend of consumers in the daily chemical industry has changed significantly. On the one hand, consumers have a higher awareness of the health and safety of daily chemical products, and are more concerned about whether the products have functions such as disinfection and sterilization; on the other hand, consumers are more concerned about the emotional value brought by the products. He gave an example that Liby's gel beads have various shapes to meet the needs of young consumer groups for product appearance. "High-value products often bring greater emotional value and increase consumers' favorability towards the products."
Wang Lei, head of the product center of the Classic Business Unit and Smart Sleep Business Unit of De Rucci Group, has a different feeling. He said that the home furnishing industry is in the downstream part of the real estate industry chain. In the past two years, he feels that consumers are more rational and their consumption is more stratified. "De Rucci is a mid-to-high-end brand in the mattress field, but at present, domestic high-spending groups will not lower their consumption standards when consuming such products, but they will buy less. Price-sensitive consumers are more concerned about the value and benefits brought by cost-effectiveness and price promotions."
How to use AI to empower products?
AI is a popular concept in recent years. How should companies use AI to empower their products?
Guo Xueqing said that XGIMI started experimenting a few years ago. For example, XGIMI's Eagle Eye technology allows the projector to automatically identify wall obstacles, avoid obstacles, and adjust the picture to be square. Now XGIMI's latest projection products also have interactive functions such as magic airplanes and AR elves, allowing children to enjoy the fun of combining AI and projectors.
Ren Pei said that AI mobile phones are the new development direction determined by OPPO this year, but in fact, looking at the global market, industry giants such as Apple and Samsung have already begun to lay out AI mobile phones and have launched some related functions. "We have invested a lot, such as setting up a dedicated AI center, and we also have a lot of functions in terms of products, such as AI call summary, AI image removal, etc."
Wang Lei said that De Rucci is a company focused on the field of sleep, and the user problem it wants to solve is how to make people sleep better. "We found that if we combine artificial intelligence technology and products, we can make mattresses that understand consumers better. We have been investing in technology for at least the past ten years." Wang Lei also said that De Rucci's AI mattress can be adjusted automatically, and with the rib frame of the smart bed, it can also relieve consumers' snoring.
How do Bay Area companies view the consumption characteristics of Sichuan and Chongqing?
When the Bay Area meets Sichuan and Chongqing, how can enterprises in the two places develop high-quality development? Chengdu and Chongqing are both major consumption cities, how do enterprises view the local consumption characteristics?
Wang Lei said that Chengdu is one of the most fashionable cities in China, and the Greater Bay Area has a complete industrial chain and strong manufacturing capabilities. The home furnishing industry is a combination of manufacturing and aesthetics, "so we may put the design center in Chengdu."
Xu Xiaodong said that there are great differences between consumers in the Sichuan and Chongqing markets and the South China market. For example, in terms of diet, Guangdong's consumer groups tend to eat lighter foods and like to eat river and seafood, so Liby will launch products that can remove fishy odors. Sichuan and Chongqing are represented by hot pot and skewers, and their diets are heavy in oil and salt, so Liby mainly promotes products that can remove oil in the local market.
