In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said he believes Microsoft's decision to include Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service on the first day of its release will help boost the number of subscribers to the subscription service. However, he also stressed that this will not affect Take-Two's strategy: Take-Two will still not include its major titles in the subscription service for Game Pass or PS Plus members on the first day of their release.
Strauss Zelnick said: "I think that adding a high-priced first-tier blockbuster to the subscription service on the first day can drive consumers to the subscription service - at least for a period of time... However, this does not affect our decision (not to add our blockbuster to the subscription service at the first launch). Because our decision is rational."
Black Ops 6 will be released on October 25, 2024, and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC platforms, and will be included in the Xbox Games Pass Ultimate subscription service on the first day of its release. From August 30 to September 4, Activision will conduct a beta test of Black Ops 6 on all platforms. The test will be open to users who pre-order the game or subscribe to a designated Game Pass plan.
