According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, on August 12, Ma Jia, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, arrived in Yangon to assume his new post.
When Ambassador Ma Jia arrived, officials from the Strategy and Training Department and the Protocol Department of the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs and senior diplomats from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar greeted him at the airport.
Ma Jia is the 20th Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar.
In his speech, Ambassador Ma Jia said that China and Myanmar are connected by mountains and rivers, and have traditional friendship and deep brotherly love. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1950, China-Myanmar relations have developed steadily, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields have achieved fruitful results. In June 2011, the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership. In 2020, President Xi Jinping paid a historic visit to Myanmar. The leaders of the two countries agreed to build a China-Myanmar community with a shared future, and China-Myanmar relations entered a new era.We are willing to work with friends from all walks of life in China and Myanmar to continue to implement the consensus reached during President Xi Jinping's visit to Myanmar, promote new development in bilateral relations, and give new vitality to the traditional Pauk-Phaw friendship in the process of jointly building a community with a shared future for China and Myanmar.
Public information shows that Ma Jia, female, Han nationality, was born in November 1967 and graduated from university.

She has served as Director of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, and Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In July 2018, Ma Jia was appointed as the deputy mayor of Sansha City. After leaving office in April 2020, she served as the minister of the Chinese Embassy in India. After that, she served as the charge d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in India until this new appointment.
