The latest statistics from Hefei Customs show that in the first seven months of this year, the total import and export value of Anhui Province's goods trade was 475.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%. Exports are still the "big head", with a total value of 320.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%; imports were 155.29 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%. From the list, in the first seven months, Anhui Province's import and export, exports, and imports ranked 9th, 9th, and 12th in the country respectively. In July, Anhui Province's imports and exports were 78.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%, ranking 9th in the country, a record high.

Interpretation: The foreign trade struggle between Anhui and Henan has lasted for nearly a year. In the first 11 months of last year, Anhui led Henan by 2.62 billion yuan, and its total import and export value ranked first in central China. By the end of the year, Henan struggled to overtake Anhui and retained its leading position in central China's foreign trade, but its lead was only 5.57 billion yuan.

Since the beginning of this year, Anhui's foreign trade has been growing rapidly - in the first quarter, the total value of imports and exports reached 189.08 billion yuan, an increase of 8.6% over the same period last year; the growth rate in the first half of the year was 7.4%, and the total value of imports and exports reached 396.78 billion yuan, setting a record high for the same period in history, ranking 10th in the country and first in the central region. In the same first half of the year, Henan's foreign trade imports and exports reached 325.32 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 13.8%.

At present, the foreign trade data for the first seven months have been released. Anhui not only maintains its first place in the central region, but also has achieved another promotion in the national ranking, with its foreign trade scale ranking ninth in the country.Anhui still relies heavily on electromechanical products - in the first seven months, it exported 223.94 billion yuan of electromechanical products, a year-on-year increase of 12%, accounting for 69.8% of the total export value.

Specifically, the "new three" products of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products had a total export of 27.34 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%; as Anhui's "first industry", automobiles (including chassis) and spare parts totaled 67.99 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24.6%, driving the province's exports to grow by 4.6 percentage points.

Henan, where electromechanical products account for the majority, has been ranked first in central China's foreign trade for more than 10 consecutive years. This is inseparable from the outstanding contribution of "the world's largest Apple mobile phone production base". Data shows that since Foxconn settled in Zhengzhou in 2010, its cumulative import and export volume has accounted for 60% of Henan. However, with the increasing risks of capacity transfer and market contraction pressure in recent years, the crisis hidden behind the high dependence has gradually emerged.

Henan is also exploring new growth points for foreign trade. Not long ago, Hon Hai Technology Group released official news that its subsidiary Foxconn signed a cooperation agreement with the Henan Provincial Government. Foxconn will invest in the construction of a new business headquarters building and seven centers in Zhengzhou, and deploy a new energy vehicle trial production center and solid-state battery project in Zhengzhou.

Hon Hai said that this strategic cooperation focuses on the transformation and implementation of Foxconn's "3+3" strategic industries, namely the three emerging industries of "electric vehicles, digital health, and robots" and the three new technology fields of "artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and new generation mobile communications". Can the new cooperation allow Henan to stage a reversal again?
