Over the past year or so, the A-share market has continued to adjust. Against this backdrop, the bond market has received more attention from investors, especially short- and medium-term bond funds, which have grown rapidly in size. How do we understand the hot market in the bond market, and how will it develop next? Shu Shimao, manager of SWM Antai Ruili Short- and Medium-Term Bond Fund, said that the bond market is likely to be dominated by fluctuations in the second half of the year, and short- and medium-term bond funds with low volatility and the potential to increase returns are still good investment products.

The scale of medium- and short-term bond funds has increased significantly

Over the past year or so, medium- and short-term bond funds have been favored by investors and attracted a large amount of capital inflows. According to Choice Information, at the end of 2022, the scale of medium- and short-term bond funds was 700.2 billion yuan, and by the end of 2023 it increased to 1159.2 billion yuan, an increase of more than 410 billion yuan in one year. In 2024, the scale of medium- and short-term bond funds continued to grow significantly, increasing to 1696.1 billion yuan by the end of the second quarter.
