Walking into the Qingshuihe new shared energy storage power station in Xingyi City, Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, neatly arranged super "power banks" come into view. These "power banks" use large lithium battery packs to store electricity generated by nearby photovoltaic power stations, and then discharge it according to power load demand.
"The energy storage power station solves the time and space contradictions of renewable energy power generation and increases the regulation capacity of the power system." Zou Wei, deputy general manager of Guizhou Xingdian New Energy Power Generation Co., Ltd., who is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the power station, said that the peak period of photovoltaic power generation is during the day when the sun is abundant, but the peak electricity consumption may not be during the day. The energy storage power station effectively regulates the contradiction between power generation and electricity load, avoiding the waste of clean electricity.
Zou Wei introduced that the installed capacity of the Qingshuihe new shared energy storage power station is 400 megawatt-hours and it will be completed and put into operation in December 2023. The completion and operation of the energy storage power station not only improves the local new energy power consumption capacity, but also can replace thermal power units to undertake grid rotation standby and improve the safety of power system operation.
It is understood that as of July 31 this year, the Qingshuihe new shared energy storage power station has accumulated 106.34 million kWh of charging and 91.99 million kWh of discharging.
At the Swan Bay "photovoltaic storage and charging" integrated demonstration charging station in Jushan Street, Xingyi City, the electricity generated by the photovoltaic panels on the roof of the charging station will be continuously stored in underground energy storage batteries, becoming an important source of power for the charging station.
"Photovoltaic panels can generate more than 100 kilowatt-hours of electricity per hour. In theory, the photovoltaic panels can fully charge the energy storage battery in three hours." Zhu Bo, deputy general manager of the comprehensive class of the urban branch of Xingyi Power Supply Bureau of Guizhou Power Grid Company of the State Grid Corporation of China, said that even if the power grid is cut off, this charging station can continue to charge new energy vehicles.
Zhu Bo introduced that as the first "source-grid-load-storage" urban microgrid in Guizhou Province, the Tian'e Bay "photovoltaic-storage-charging" integrated demonstration charging station can also reversely charge the grid. This means that the surplus electricity generated by the photovoltaic panels of the charging station will also be transmitted to the grid to prevent power waste.
Looking from the top of the mountain, construction vehicles are constantly shuttling back and forth on the construction site of the Guiyang Pumped Storage Power Station in the valley, and hundreds of workers are working intensively. The Guiyang Pumped Storage Power Station is located in Gubao Town, Xiuwen County, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. It is the first pumped storage power station in Guizhou Province, with a total installed capacity of 1,500 megawatts.
"Building a storage reservoir on the top of a mountain is equivalent to building a large 'battery' on the top of a mountain." Zhang Junyu, deputy general manager of Guangdong Energy Group Guiyang Pumped Storage Power Generation Co., Ltd., introduced that the principle of the power station is to use the surplus electricity during the peak power generation period to lift the water from the downstream reservoir to the reservoir on the top of the mountain, and then drain it to generate electricity during the peak power consumption period. After the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected to supply about 1.77 billion kWh of clean electricity to the society every year.
