At 9 pm on August 10th, local time in Paris, the Paris Olympics ushered in the first mass marathon in the 100-year Olympic history. The event included a full marathon and a 10km run. 40,048 marathon enthusiasts from all over the world made history together, and Gu Ailing was one of them.

Gu Ailing participated in the full marathon of the Paris Olympic Games mass marathon group. It is understood that this was her first full marathon. In the end, Gu Ailing successfully completed the race in 3 hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds.

Gu Ailing also said after the race: "I think I may have to run a few more (marathons) in the future. It's really fun and exciting! I feel like I challenged myself and gave 100% of myself. I'm addicted to running! Thank you to the Chinese audience who cheered for me!"

Runners participating in the Mass Marathon follow the same route as the Olympic Marathon, starting from the Paris City Hall on the banks of the Seine, passing through famous attractions such as the Paris Opera, Tuileries Garden, Louvre Museum, and Place de la Concorde, all the way to the Palace of Versailles 20 kilometers away. The return route passes the Eiffel Tower and finally arrives at the end of the Invalides. The cumulative climbing height of the entire track reaches 438 meters. The design of the marathon track is inspired by the "October Incident" that broke out during the French Revolution. The Paris Olympic Organizing Committee hopes to pay tribute to history through such a track layout, and to pay tribute to all those who have worked hard for the spirit of "freedom, equality, and fraternity".

It is not easy to qualify for the Olympic Marathon Mass Group. Participants must accumulate more than 100,000 sports points through different sports such as swimming, running, cycling, hiking, etc. at a designated time and on a designated website to have a chance to participate in the lottery.

Since the Paris Olympic Committee announced the mass marathon plan, more than 800,000 people around the world have registered accounts, and only 40,048 people finally met the points requirements and passed the lottery, with a winning probability of about 1 in 20. Among them, more than 120 Chinese mass runners have obtained the qualification to participate.
